Peter Thiel’s Founders Fund has co-led a significant $85 million seed round investment in Sentient, an open-source AI development platform. The funding round was co-led by Founders Fund, Pantera Capital, and Framework Ventures, with contributions from numerous other investors, including Ethereal, Robot Ventures, Symbolic Capital, and Delphi. 
The funds will be used to build out the platform, hire AI research and blockchain engineering experts, and establish partnerships with leading academic institutions and industry players. Sentient’s goal is to provide an open-source platform for AI research and development that aligns AI innovations with community-built open AGI.

Sentient’s core contributors emphasize the need for a balanced approach to AI development. By respecting property rights and aligning incentives, Sentient aims to distribute power more fairly and ensure the benefits of AI reach a broader audience.
