About Cosanta

About the Project

Cosanta is a proof-of-stake (PoS) blockchain network designed to provide an energy-efficient approach to securing its ecosystem while supporting a native digital asset, COSA. Unlike proof-of-work networks that rely on intensive computational resources, Cosanta uses a staking-based consensus mechanism in which network participants contribute to security by holding and staking their coins. This approach reduces the hardware and energy requirements associated with network validation while maintaining distributed participation.

The native cryptocurrency of the network, COSA, has a fixed maximum supply of 56.04 million coins. The supply cap is defined at the protocol level, meaning that no additional coins can be created beyond this limit. This fixed issuance model is intended to provide predictable monetary issuance and transparent supply dynamics over the lifetime of the network.

Cosanta incorporates a staking reward mechanism that allows eligible coin holders to participate in network maintenance and receive protocol-generated rewards. COSA coins become eligible for staking rewards after being held for a minimum of 24 hours. The protocol gradually increases staking rewards during the network's early stages until reaching a target reward of 50 COSA per reward event. To manage long-term issuance, the protocol includes a scheduled reward reduction, with staking rewards halving every four years. This emission schedule is designed to gradually decrease the rate at which new coins enter circulation while continuing to incentivize network participation.

The network's consensus mechanism and reward schedule are intended to balance security, predictable issuance, and long-term sustainability. By combining a capped supply with a predefined reward reduction schedule, Cosanta establishes transparent monetary parameters that are visible to all network participants.

COSA serves as the native asset of the Cosanta ecosystem and can be used for staking, transferring value across the network, and participating in its consensus process. Users may acquire COSA through supported cryptocurrency exchanges or by participating in the network's staking mechanism, subject to the protocol's eligibility requirements.

The project provides technical documentation through its whitepaper, which outlines the network architecture, consensus model, token issuance schedule, and staking mechanics in greater detail. The protocol is designed to operate according to predefined consensus rules, with staking participants contributing to network security while receiving rewards determined by the protocol's emission schedule.

Cosanta focuses on providing a blockchain network with an energy-efficient consensus mechanism, a transparent token supply model, and a predictable staking reward structure. These characteristics define the network's core functionality and establish the operational framework for the COSA ecosystem.
