What Is Casper (CSPR)?
About to be officially launched towards the end of March 2021, Casper is the first live proof-of-stake (PoS) blockchain built off the Casper CBC specification. The Casper platform is designed to boost the adoption of blockchain technology, smart contracts, and DApps on a global scale.
With a strong focus on the future, Casper is created and designed to ensure the platform will develop according to the evolving needs of its users. As per the official whitepaper, Casper is optimized to suit both enterprise and private uses. One of the main missions of the Casper platform is to give entrepreneurs and developers a secure, decentralized work environment utilizing the best capabilities of blockchain technology.
Who Are the Founders of Casper?
Mrinal Manohar is the founder and CEO of CasperLabs, the company behind the Casper platform. He has a masters of science degree from the renowned Carnegie Mellon University. Since he graduated in 2007, Manohar has had several major career opportunities.
In 2007 he became a program manager intern for Microsoft and spent four months with the tech giant. Before his internship with Microsoft, Manohar successfully completed a university project in the same discipline for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). In 2008, he joined Bain & Company as an associate.
In 2012, Manohar joined Sagard Holdings as the principal and head of the technology, media, and telecommunications sector. He spent five years with the company, and in 2016, he joined Splendid Spoon. Later on, he joined the angel investor list with contributions to Splendid Spoon, Ethereum, Tezos, Filecoin, Maker, and many more. In 2018, Mrinal Manohar founded CasperLabs.
What Makes Casper Unique?
Casper is a unique utilization of blockchain technology and the proof-of-stake consensus method. Because of its completely decentralized approach, the network is extremely versatile in terms of use cases. Not only that, Casper boasts a future-proof design, with upgradeable smart contracts and predictable gas fees for transactions.
The innovative Correct-by-Construction (CBC) Casper specification is a remarkable feature of the network. Designed by early Ethereum developers, this specification allows for the rapid adoption of blockchain services on all enterprise levels. Last but not least, by relying on the PoS consensus, Casper ensures scalability and database management solutions. Casper and the CSPR token are the result of years of research by CasperLabs.

How Many Casper (CSPR) Coins Are There in Circulation?
With an announced Genesis total token supply of 400,000,000 CSPR, this is one of the more token abundant ICOs. The total Casper token supply for sale will be 1,000,000,000 CSPR. According to the network’s whitepaper, about 8% of this total token supply will be reserved as rewards for team members and developers working on the network. Another 6% of the total supply will be distributed among advisors on the ICO and the Casper project.
About 46% of the total supply is going to be directed towards the Casper Foundation. Close to 30% of all CSPR tokens will be released during private sale events, while another 10% of tokens will be launched for public sale.
How Is the Casper Network Secured?
As an Ethereum-based project, the Casper network relies on a proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus mechanism for its security. PoS depends on token staking to select node validators, which allows the consensus to be extremely versatile and scalable. Unlike the proof-of-work (PoW) consensus used by the Bitcoin blockchain, PoS does not require huge amounts of electrical or computing power to perform validations and to add new blocks to the chain.
Casper also employs the Correct-by-Construction (CBC) Casper specification, which utilizes an upgraded approach to Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT) applications. CBC was first developed by Vlad Zamfir, an Ethereum Foundation member, during his initial work on the Ethereum blockchain.
Where Can You Buy Casper (CSPR)?
CoinList will host Casper’s initial coin offering. For the moment, this is the only place where you can get CSPR tokens, but after the official ICO, the token will most likely be introduced to other big exchanges like Binance.
It is important to note that investing in cryptocurrency comes with risk, as does any other form of investment.
