Canopy is built on a simple premise: launching a blockchain shouldn't take more effort than shipping a normal app. With AI-assisted coding tools, a developer can already go from idea to a working app in a single sitting. Canopy brings that same speed to blockchain infrastructure. Its development framework gets a working appchain, a sovereign application-specific blockchain, down to roughly 200 lines of code.
Blockchain infrastructure hasn't kept pace with how fast software gets built today. Smart contracts are immutable and expensive to migrate. Rollups often restrict which programming languages developers can use and route value away from the application teams building on them. New chains typically have to bootstrap their own security, liquidity, and users from zero. Canopy was built in the United States and launched in Panama, pairing its framework with a consumer application and a restaking-based security system so a team can write, launch, and secure an appchain without assembling each piece separately.
The protocol has three components:
Canopy Stack: a development framework for building appchains in Go, TypeScript, Python, C#, or Kotlin, with a reference implementation of roughly 200 lines of code. It's compatible with AI-assisted development tools, so teams write appchains using standard languages and workflows instead of a smart contract language.
Canopy Terminal: a web application combining a bonding curve token launchpad, an automated market maker for in-application trading, a cross-chain block explorer, an on-chain questing platform, and a web wallet.
Canopy Network: a restaking-based security system that lets validators secure new appchains with CNPY they've already staked, so new chains don't need to attract their own validator set.
Network Activity
As of June 2026, the Canopy testnet had approximately 329,000 registered users and 115,000 on-chain users, with 35.4 million cumulative testnet transactions and 52.3 million CNPY in testnet fees collected across trading and launch activity. Peak daily active users reached 152,379 on May 15, 2026. The developer community includes more than 15,000 GitHub-verified developers, and an average of 5,000 chains are launched daily on the testnet launchpad.
