Voice is becoming the default way people use AI. We’ll talk to chatbot, LLMs, assistants, cars, devices and robots instead of typing to them. For that to work, AI has to understand how people actually speak.
Today it doesn’t. There are more than 7,000 languages in the world, yet today’s models are trained on only about 3% of them. Roughly half of th World's population can't talk to AI in their native language today. All frontier AI labs have this challenge. The data needed to include them can’t be scraped from the internet. It has to be recorded by real people, with their consent.
