Matrix Protocol (Matrix) is a unified identity infrastructure and non-custodial wallet designed to function as a seamless gateway into the Web3 ecosystem. Focused on facilitating mass adoption, the platform addresses user experience friction by integrating readable digital identities, a frictionless transaction protocol, and a behavior-based validation system. The architecture transitions the wallet from a simple asset custody software into a definitive decentralized identity (DID) by replacing complex cryptographic addresses with a unified username system operating on the matrix.app domain. These usernames act as an omnichain resolution mechanism, automatically retrieving and embedding the correct destination network addresses (such as Ethereum, Tron, or Solana) directly into transactions without relying on high-risk cross-chain bridges. Each username is minted as a digital asset (NFT) subject to a micro-fee and can be freely traded on Matrix's dedicated secondary marketplace. To secure accounts without vulnerable seed phrases, Matrix utilizes hardware attestation standards like WebAuthn (Passkeys), enabling users to prove their identity through mobile hardware and biometrics. A core component of the protocol is its Gasless UX, which eliminates the requirement for users to hold native network tokens to pay transaction fees. This is achieved using official network standards including EIP-7702 and ZeroDev on Ethereum, Energy Delegation on Tron, and Kora on Solana allowing sponsor contracts (Paymasters) to cover fees. Matrix sustains this system through abstracted settlement, where a negligible equivalent of the fee is deducted from the transferred asset (e.g., USDT) and instantly swapped via DEX routers to recharge the Paymaster treasury. To defend against Sybil attacks and bot hoarding, the protocol employs game theory and hardware deterrence, requiring a smart micro-deposit for username registration and utilizing AI-powered rate limiters to sever fee subsidies for malicious wallet clusters. Additionally, the platform integrates on-chain AML APIs from analytics oracles to maintain regulatory compliance by denying proxy fee services to sanctioned addresses. Finally, Matrix incorporates a blockchain credit score system that evaluates on-chain behavioral data, such as wallet age and interaction diversity, to allocate daily subsidized transaction quotas and offers users pay-per-use artificial intelligence tools for smart contract security scans directly within state channels.
