YOM was founded in 2021 by its three founders, Alex, Jorrit, and Daniel, who had experience in building scalable platforms and creating virtual solutions with Unreal Engine. The team had previously created custom virtual experiences for parties such as GlaxoSmithKline, TEDx, and the Dutch Government think tank Rathenau Institute.

Leveraging their market insights and revenues from these projects, the team understood the challenge to deploy these use cases as interoperable web3 solutions to existing metaverses and as a result began to develop its infrastructure. Since, it has grown to include an Advisory Board with industry leaders and CEOs from various well-established web3 companies such as Merit Circle, LTO Network and Coinbureau.
