U.S. stocks reportedly lost $810 billion in market value within an hour of the opening bell, raising fresh questions about investor confidence across financial markets. The sell-off was coming after initial jobless claims data and reports of possible U.S. military action against Iran following the midterm elections. This has brought geopolitical and economic uncertainty and interest rates back into the spotlight.

One of the primary issues on the minds of the cryptocurrency market is if pressure on traditional assets will lead to another round of selling on the digital currency market. When investors become conservative, they might divert their investments from volatile assets, such as altcoins. Expectations of further Fed rate hikes can also impact speculative asset liquidity and demand. But cryptocurrencies will move as per the actual market conditions and not just because of the losses in the stock market.

The levels of resilience may vary among the different altcoins based on their trading volume, network activity, liquidity, and the demand for the underlying technologies. Solana (SOL), Hedera (HBAR), Avalanche (AVAX), NEAR Protocol (NEAR), and Sei (SEI) are five projects traders can monitor as geopolitical uncertainty develops.

Solana (SOL): Trading Volume and Network Activity Take Center Stage

Solana's high throughput network enables the operation of decentralized finance (DeFi) applications, token trading, gaming, and other blockchain applications. When traders are looking to gauge the demand for large cap altcoins during market volatility, its ecosystem activity can prove helpful.

Trading volume on SOL may gain momentum and attract investors, but a decline in trading volume and negative market sentiment may indicate that demand is decreasing. Traders can also watch for significant chart support levels when there are broader declines in cryptocurrencies like SOL.

Hedera (HBAR): Enterprise Use Cases Meet Investor Caution

Hedera offers distributed ledger infrastructure to applications in such areas as tokenization, payments, and business operations. It operates with a consensus process that is different from the blockchain, called hashgraph.

The crypto market sentiment as well as the interest in real-world applications could influence the market performance of HBAR. Traders can also consider the volume (amount of trading) and the stability of prices when assessing the strength of buying pressure, during a risk-off period, despite pressure in the digital asset space.

Avalanche (AVAX): Blockchain Adoption Faces a Market Test

The features that Avalanche offers include smart contracts, decentralized finance, and customizable blockchain networks. It has an ecosystem that is competing with developers and applications in a number of digital asset sectors.

When times are uncertain, AVAX traders may prioritize the level of network activity, liquidity, and price support. Long term interest may be supported by continued development of the ecosystem but it may not exclude short term losses from a general sell-off.

NEAR Protocol (NEAR): Scalability and AI-Related Activity in Focus

NEAR Protocol aims to enable scalable transaction processing for decentralized applications. Its extensive ecosystem also delves into the link between the blockchain ecosystem and AI. In the face of shifting market sentiment, traders can evaluate the consistency of NEAR's demand. The adoption of the network, the activity on the network, as well as the volume of trading on the network, may lead to the differentiation of project-related demand and demand caused by the general market of cryptocurrencies.

Sei (SEI): Trading Infrastructure Faces Volatility Risks

Sei is a layer-1 blockchain dedicated to trading applications, and DeFi. It boasts infrastructure that facilitates the execution of transactions quickly for on-chain markets. Traders interested in specialized blockchain networks could come looking for SEI. Smaller Altcoins, however, can see very rapid price changes during periods of low liquidity. So volume and depth of trading and the capacity to support the price may be significant.

What Could Determine the Next Move for These Five Altcoins?

Events in Iran, economic data and the Federal Reserve's policy decisions may have implications for risk appetite in the financial markets. In the case of altcoins, Bitcoin's trend, market liquidity and trading volume movements can also aid in identifying the nature of Bitcoin's selling pressure, whether it is being amplified or might be abating.

While SOL, HBAR, AVAX, NEAR, and SEI are all different use cases, none of them are immune from the risks of the broader market. They will then rely on market demand, technical conditions and investor reaction to economic and geo-political changes to determine their next steps.
