Weentar is a blockchain-based social media platform, where every post is minted as a non-fungible token (NFT), and can be auctioned or sold for a fixed price. Users can collect NFTs from their favorite creators, with the option to later sell them on the secondary market, and original creators are automatically paid royalties on every sale.

Development of Weentar is planned with progressive decentralization in mind, aiming to overcome and solve the limitations and problems currently facing centralized social media platforms. Some of the issues identified in the Weentar whitepaper are a lack of monetization options for users, a lack of ownership and control over content, and little-to-no support for the adoption of blockchain technology and cryptocurrency.

WNTR is a BEP-20 token issued on the BNB chain (formerly Binance Smart Chain). WNTR tokens are used for paying for products and services on the Weentar platform. Development is underway to allow WNTR tokens to be used for tipping other users, participating in governance (submitting proposals and voting), and more.

Weentar NFTs are ERC-721 tokens compatible with many other NFT marketplaces.
