Grayscale has expanded its crypto investment platform to let eligible investors exchange XRP, Solana, Dogecoin and seven other cryptocurrencies directly for shares in its funds, eliminating the need to sell their tokens for cash first.
The October 21 announcement covers ten exchange-traded products, with minimum contributions ranging from approximately $80,300 to $364,800. The initiative provides another way for investors holding substantial cryptocurrency positions to move into traditional brokerage-based investment structures.
According to <a href="https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2026/10/21/3385595/0/en/grayscale-expands-access-to-in-kind-transfers-across-its-digital-asset-investment-platform.html" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Grayscale's official announcement</a>, the new access is available through in-kind subscriptions, allowing eligible digital assets to be contributed in exchange for fund shares.Grayscale Opens Direct Token Transfers Across 10 Crypto Funds
The expanded offering includes the Grayscale XRP Trust ETF (GXRP), Solana Staking ETF (GSOL) and Dogecoin Trust ETF (GDOG), alongside products covering Bitcoin, Ethereum, Chainlink, Avalanche, Sui, Hyperliquid and Zcash.
For Solana investors, the approximate minimum contribution is $80,300, compared with $95,550 for Dogecoin and $257,000 for XRP.
Bitcoin's minimum is considerably higher at approximately $364,800, making Solana the most accessible product in the announced lineup.
The development follows Grayscale's earlier <a href="https://coinpaper.com/37139/grayscale-xrp-etf-adds-anchorage-digital-opens-door-to-in-kind-xrp-transfers" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">XRP custody expansion</a>, when GXRP added Anchorage Digital and enabled in-kind creations and redemptions for authorized participants.
The broader rollout extends these opportunities to eligible investors using approved intermediaries, rather than introducing unrestricted token exchanges for ordinary retail traders. How In-Kind Crypto Subscriptions Work
Under a traditional cash subscription, investors first sell cryptocurrency, convert the proceeds into fiat currency and use that money to obtain fund shares.
With an in-kind subscription, eligible holders can instead contribute the underlying cryptocurrency through an authorized participant or an approved intermediary.
The resulting shares provide exposure to the fund's assets without requiring investors to manage the underlying tokens in personal wallets.
That distinction matters for XRP investors, especially after recent <a href="https://coinpaper.com/35540/xrp-outperforms-bitcoin-ethereum-and-solana-in-latest-us-etf-flows" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">ETF inflows</a> demonstrated that demand for regulated investment products can differ from spot-market activity.
Grayscale says the arrangement can reduce operational complexity and potentially lower execution costs while allowing shares to be held within conventional brokerage or retirement accounts.
However, contributing cryptocurrency does not guarantee that the transaction will avoid taxes, fees or market risks.
Investors also exchange direct token ownership for fund shares, which may trade at premiums or discounts to their underlying net asset value. What the Expansion Means for XRP, Solana and Dogecoin
The announcement introduces another institutional investment mechanism at a time when altcoin funds are experiencing uneven demand.
Coinpaper recently reported that <a href="https://coinpaper.com/37324/xrp-etf-demand-slows-sharply-despite-18-billion-in-cumulative-investor-inflows" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">XRP ETF inflows</a> had slowed despite approximately $1.8 billion in cumulative subscriptions.
Meanwhile, an earlier <a href="https://coinpaper.com/37424/xrp-solana-and-ethereum-etfs-lose-71-million-as-bitcoin-funds-attract-51-million-in-one-day" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">ETF market selloff</a> showed that XRP, Solana and Ethereum investment products can experience withdrawals even as institutions expand their crypto offerings.
The introduction of in-kind subscriptions therefore does not automatically create additional demand or guarantee higher token prices.
The change also builds on the growing range of staking products available to Solana investors, including earlier <a href="https://coinpaper.com/14978/sec-review-begins-for-solana-based-jito-sol-liquid-staking-etf" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">liquid-staking ETF proposals</a>.
For XRP, the ability to contribute tokens directly should not be confused with a guaranteed supply reduction. Historical <a href="https://coinpaper.com/35253/grayscale-xrp-position-drops-27-to-123m-tokens-in-new-sec-filing" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Grayscale holdings data</a> demonstrate that fund subscriptions, redemptions and underlying asset balances can change independently of investment announcements.
