U.S. spot XRP exchange-traded funds hold approximately $1.5 billion in assets, but investors face an estimated $375.5 million in unrealized losses as the cryptocurrency trades well below the prices at which fund capital was deployed.
The five funds covered by CryptoETF Today's October 20 dataset have attracted $1.81 billion in cumulative net inflows since November 2025. Yet their estimated average XRP entry price stands at $1.72, compared with the tracker’s October 20 reference price of $1.36.
The resulting 21.3% loss estimate illustrates a growing disconnect between persistent demand for regulated XRP investment products and the performance investors have experienced.XRP ETF Investors Face Estimated 21% Losses
According to <a href="https://cryptoetf.today/en/xrp-etf-flows" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">CryptoETF Today's tracker</a>, all five covered funds have estimated average entry prices above XRP's October 20 reference price.
Canary Capital's XRPC shows the largest estimated dollar loss at $152.6 million, with an average entry price of $1.99. Franklin Templeton's XRPZ follows at approximately $97.5 million, while Bitwise's XRP ETF accounts for another $96.3 million.
Grayscale's GXRP has an estimated $28.8 million unrealized loss, while 21Shares' TOXR shows a comparatively small $107,000 decline.
The figures are reconstructed from historical share creations, redemptions and XRP prices. They are not official disclosures of investors' purchase prices or realized trading results.
That distinction matters because ETF shares change hands between investors, meaning individual returns can differ significantly from estimated fund-level entry prices.
The losses also follow a period of <a href="https://coinpaper.com/37324/xrp-etf-demand-slows-sharply-despite-18-billion-in-cumulative-investor-inflows" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">slowing ETF demand</a>, when daily subscriptions weakened even as cumulative investments approached $1.8 billion. Why $1.8 Billion in Inflows Hasn't Protected XRP Investors
The difference between cumulative flows and current assets provides another indication of XRP's weakness.
The tracked funds have received approximately $1.81 billion in net subscriptions but hold assets worth around $1.50 billion. However, that $310 million gap is not identical to the model's $375.5 million unrealized-loss estimate because the measures use different accounting approaches.
Historical inflows track capital entering and leaving the products, while current net assets reflect the market value of their holdings.
Earlier <a href="https://coinpaper.com/36578/xrp-etfs-cross-1-billion-xrp-btc-and-eth-funds-still-dominate-crypto" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">institutional accumulation</a> helped U.S. XRP funds surpass 1 billion tokens held, but falling prices have reduced the dollar value of that exposure.
Coinpaper previously documented a <a href="https://coinpaper.com/37257/xrp-etfs-extend-13-week-inflow-streak-as-ripple-token-falls-7-despite-continued-institutional-demand" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">13-week inflow streak</a>, when ETF demand remained positive despite a substantial weekly XRP decline.
That pattern subsequently weakened as funds recorded <a href="https://coinpaper.com/37424/xrp-solana-and-ethereum-etfs-lose-71-million-as-bitcoin-funds-attract-51-million-in-one-day" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">renewed withdrawals</a>.
The latest dataset shows no net creations or redemptions on October 20, suggesting institutional demand was relatively quiet during that session.Could Underwater ETF Holders Put More Pressure on XRP?
The estimated $1.72 entry price provides a reference for evaluating how much XRP would need to recover before the modeled average position approaches breakeven.
However, it is not a confirmed resistance level, and investors holding ETF shares may have entered at substantially different prices.
Meanwhile, recent <a href="https://coinpaper.com/37591/xrp-news-6-05-billion-tokens-flow-to-exchanges-as-whale-activity-signals-potential-selling" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">exchange inflows</a> have increased concerns about potential selling pressure, although exchange deposits do not establish that holders have sold their tokens.
We have also reported how <a href="https://coinpaper.com/35118/goldman-sachs-tops-xrp-etf-holders-with-87m-as-inflows-approach-18b" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">institutional ETF ownership</a> can reflect hedging and trading strategies rather than straightforward long-term accumulation.
