A 215% surge in Shiba Inu spot flows grabbed traders' attention. At first glance, the figure looks impressive but a closer look tells a different story. The actual net inflow reached only about $35,000. That amount is small for an asset valued near $2.93 billion. While the percentage increase appears dramatic, market participants should focus on broader trading activity before drawing bullish conclusions.

Spot Activity Remains Weak Despite Flow Spike

The recent jump in spot flows came from a very small base. That context matters. Large percentage moves often create excitement. However, actual capital movement provides a clearer picture. Current trading data highlights limited spot market participation. Spot volume over the last 24 hours reached only $6.37 million. Futures volume stood much higher at $21.99 million. That gap suggests traders prefer derivative products over direct coin purchases.

Open interest currently sits near $52.56 million. Liquidations remain relatively modest. Total liquidations reached roughly $92,820 during the past day. Most of those liquidations affected long positions. Price action also reflects ongoing weakness. SHIB trades around $0.00000499. The token has fallen roughly 1.4% during the day. Weekly losses approach 8%. Technical resistance remains strong overhead. SHIB continues trading below the 50-day, 100-day, and 200-day moving averages.

These technical indicators range between approximately $0.00000527 and $0.00000561. Bulls must reclaim those levels before sentiment can improve meaningfully. The Relative Strength Index sits near 37. That reading points to weak momentum. However, market conditions have not reached oversold territory. Trading volume has also declined since activity peaked during August and September.

Key Price Levels Could Decide the Next Move

Despite recent weakness, support continues holding for now. Buyers recently stepped in near $0.00000483. Another important support area emerged around $0.00000474 during September. A daily close below that range could increase bearish pressure. Such a move may expose the next support zone around $0.00000440. Buyers previously defended that level during August. On the upside, traders should watch $0.00000527 closely.

A breakout above that barrier could open the path toward $0.00000550. A stronger trend reversal would require a close above the 200-day moving average near $0.00000561. Longer-term performance remains mixed. SHIB has declined roughly 28% this year. Twelve-month losses approach 49%. Even so, the token remains up about 20% over the past 90 days. One encouraging sign comes from market positioning.

The OKX long-to-short ratio stands at 2.76. That figure suggests many traders still expect higher prices ahead. For now, the spot flow surge looks more like a minor signal than a major breakout trigger. Stronger evidence would include steady inflows, rising spot volume, and a move above key resistance. Until those conditions appear, SHIB may continue trading within a narrow range above critical support.
