The Aero merger has combined Aerodrome and Velodrome into one decentralized spot exchange operating across seven networks. The platform launched October 21 at 8 p.m. EDT, or October 22 at midnight UTC. Existing holders must actively migrate their tokens, while the new system replaces weekly liquidity votes with continuous reward allocation and revenue streams.

Developed by Dromos Labs, the exchange supports Ethereum, Base, OP Mainnet, Arbitrum, Ink, Arc and Robinhood Chain. Its launch brings the two protocols under a shared token and liquidity incentive framework.
The upgrade hub sets conversion at one new AERO for each existing AERO and 0.044 AERO for each VELO. Migration is irreversible, but holders face no deadline to participate.
Under the Aero merger, Aerodrome holders receive 94.5% of the upgraded supply, while Velodrome holders receive 5.5%. The split reflects their respective revenue contributions during the year preceding the merger announcement.
Locked veAERO and veVELO positions become sAERO on Base. Remaining lock periods carry over, rounded upward to full weeks, while permanent locks convert to the maximum staking duration.

Predictive Allocation lets sAERO holders direct rewards toward pools they expect to generate revenue. Participants then receive a proportional share of revenue from their selected pools as it accrues.
The Aero merger also enables allocation across supported chains through one transaction, with gas paid only on Base. Each staking position initially has a 47-hour cooldown between allocation changes.
Metaswaps supports trading across networks, while Slipstream V3 introduces dynamic fees and mechanisms to capture MEV. Liquidity rewards target dollar amounts, with pool-level caps linked to projected revenue.
The Aero merger requires liquidity providers to move deposits through the legacy exchanges’ upgrade portals. Positions without matching pools require manual withdrawal, as do deposits managed through automated liquidity managers.
The project’s launch announcement said Sherlock and ChainSecurity reviewed its contracts across five audit engagements. A three-week public security contest followed, alongside a launch-day bug bounty.
