Blast has deactivated its Ethereum layer-2 network and launched a recovery website for users to reclaim any remaining funds. Users have until November 4, 2027, to submit claims and retrieve Ethereum or USDB tokens still held within Blast wallets, pending withdrawals, or through Blast Mobile.

Withdrawal process and fund recovery

The recovery website enables users to search for eligible addresses that held ETH, wrapped ETH, or USDB on Blast. Owners of smart wallets or Safes approved to claim for these addresses can also initiate the recovery process.

According to the team, claims are fulfilled directly via smart contracts on the Ethereum mainnet. For Blast Mobile users, since these addresses never existed on Ethereum, recovery requires importing the app’s seed phrase into compatible wallets such as MetaMask or Rabby. Connecting through these wallets will display a new address, different from the original Blast Mobile representation.

The Blast recovery page advises users to only enter their seed phrase in trusted wallet applications and cautions, “Only ever type your seed phrase into your wallet app, never into a website.”

On November 3, Blast’s canonical bridge on Ethereum reportedly held approximately $6.51 million, which had dropped sharply from around $41.04 million observed on October 26. This figure reflects the value remaining in the bridge and not necessarily the amount already recovered by users. Within just a day at the end of October, the bridge’s holdings fell from about $36.63 million to roughly $6.59 million.

As Blast users move to reclaim assets, real-time tracking of relevant wallets and claims may be important for investors and affected parties. Through CryptoAppsy’s smart price alerts and live news monitoring, users can stay updated on address activity and key recovery deadlines linked to Blast’s shutdown—providing clarity and timely notifications as critical recovery windows approach.

Shutdown reasons and user snapshots

On October 2, Blast’s team announced plans to wind down the chain, citing economic challenges. Maintaining the network had become more expensive than the revenue earned from its use as a layer-2 platform. The team outlined asset removal from Lido, suspended withdrawals temporarily, and later shortened the withdrawal delay to 24 hours. October 26 was specified as the last day for standard withdrawals, after which only bridge contract withdrawals on Ethereum were possible.

Blast explained that despite intentions to create a self-sustaining layer-2 solution for developers and users, the project could not identify a realistic path to economic viability.

In parallel, blockchain platform Katana reported that it took a comprehensive snapshot of Blast user wallets and activity on October 26, reaffirming this step when Blast completed its shutdown on November 4. Katana stated that further boosts would be provided to addresses active on its platform and highlighted the importance of these recorded snapshots for ongoing community engagement.

Market activity on competing networks

While Blast closed down, competing Ethereum scaling solutions witnessed significant activity. Arbitrum One recorded its busiest day since July 2024 on October 28, with 1,087,999 daily active addresses. Polygon PoS outpaced other tracked blockchains with over 1.6 million active addresses, followed by Base in second place and Arbitrum in third.
