Internet Computer ($ICP) was the fastest blockchain in crypto over the past week, overtaking Solana ($SOL) on real-time throughput. Data from @chainspect_app's scalability dashboard shows @dfinity's network recorded about 2,323 transactions per second (tx/s), compared with 1,896 tx/s for @Solana over the same period.

ICP moves ahead of Solana

Solana had held the top spot on the dashboard for several weeks. In early September, for example, Solana led a weekly ranking at 1,710 tx/s, with Internet Computer second at 1,502 tx/s, according to Hokanews.

The latest weekly figures put ICP roughly 427 tx/s ahead of Solana. Chainspect's live dashboard also showed ICP in first place on Oct. 24, with 2,969 tx/s over a one-hour window against 2,094 tx/s for Solana. Short-window readings can differ from weekly averages, and rankings can shift quickly. A snapshot from Oct. 19 had Fogo first at 3,468 tx/s, Solana second at 2,295 tx/s and ICP third at 2,240 tx/s, according to Altcoin Buzz.

What the TPS figures measure

Chainspect says its dashboard tracks real-time network activity, and the platform is described as an analytics service covering scalability metrics such as TPS, finality and block time across more than 50 networks, according to a BSV Association press release.

TPS is only one way to compare networks. Coverage of the September ranking noted that the metric does not by itself capture decentralization, network costs or application activity. Real-time throughput also differs from theoretical capacity. Chainspect lists a theoretical maximum of 209,708 tx/s for ICP and 65,000 tx/s for Solana.

For traders, the shift is a snapshot of network usage rather than a direct signal on token prices. Weekly leadership has changed hands before, and the current gap may not hold.
