PancakeSwap’s total value locked (TVL) rose roughly $380 million on Oct. 21, 2026. The 18.8% advance coincided with a governance vote proposing higher fees for liquidity providers.
DefiLlama data placed the decentralized exchange’s TVL near $2.397 billion, versus $2.017 billion on Oct. 14. PancakeSwap’s vote, called “The Flip,” opened Wednesday and closes Oct. 24.

DefiLlama’s historical data showed that PancakeSwap <a href="https://www.thecoinrepublic.com/2023/02/08/pancakeswap-price-prediction-is-cake-price-on-a-10-rally/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">V3 pools </a>accounted for most of the growth. TVL in those pools climbed from $336.06 million to $738.08 million between Oct. 14 and Oct. 21.

That represented a $402 million increase, or nearly 120%, exceeding the protocol’s net weekly advance. Other product categories therefore offset part of the V3 increase.
DefiLlama measures TVL as assets held in protocol smart contracts, not depositors’ profits. Large asset transfers can alter that measure without comparable gains in user numbers.
The pattern showed a concentration of capital rather than uniform growth across PancakeSwap products. It did not establish that the proposed fee allocation caused the increase.
<a href="https://www.google.com/goto?url=CAESrQEB6zswFRSOXTWTIstfApp7QjTs0XOPqiyVG_zrn3GhDBrUakCivCYhMCpiVFvncivLlvXRjqV4J0itGVgC3KO3JLuEQ4Ka8WRYInIJJJy-lFWFR-EutfqEj358hN37gxn0Q4sasGM0Sgj_sLqLSiCHDfPqf1ZxBfBgVmk_XZLBeZH0JOGrCDKPghKyr1qbNPb7-w9smE30-bJrSUcNJdjzFx0iX-UUy_Kk-uGlLw" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">BNB Chain</a> held approximately $2.335 billion in protocol liquidity, according to DefiLlama figures. That represented about 97% of the exchange’s total across supported networks.
The concentration also exposed PancakeSwap crypto liquidity to conditions on BNB Chain. Higher deposits alone did not establish stronger trading demand or lasting liquidity retention.
<h2 id="h-pancakeswap-fee-proposal-shifts-more-swap-income-to-providers" class="wp-block-heading">PancakeSwap Fee Proposal Shifts More Swap Income to Providers</h2>
PancakeSwap’s official governance ballot proposed allocating 88% of qualifying V3 and Infinity swap fees to liquidity providers. Most eligible pools <a href="https://pancakeswap.finance/voting/proposal/0x177e9b0ea5955a01ea832dd36cf3ad7bcbbb24c14d6e7e74656b736fc57ce251?chain=bsc" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">currently distribute</a> 66%-68%, while Solana’s V3 allocation already reaches 84%.
The remaining 12% would go to the protocol treasury. PancakeSwap said its non-stablecoin share would continue supporting CAKE buybacks.
The team estimated that providers would have earned approximately $62 million more annually using 2025 trading activity. That calculation assumed historical volume and did not guarantee future earnings. Trading activity, fee tiers, and competition for deposits would influence realized returns.
The proposal would leave V2 fee allocations unchanged. For existing Infinity pools, lowering protocol fees would instead reduce traders’ overall swap charges.
This distinction mattered because fees for existing Infinity liquidity positions were fixed at the time their pools launched. The proposal would therefore not increase income equally across every PancakeSwap pool.
<h2 id="h-cake-emissions-cut-depends-on-a-second-milestone" class="wp-block-heading">CAKE Emissions Cut Depends on a Second Milestone</h2>
The final ballot also proposed cutting daily CAKE issuance from 22,500 to 7,000 tokens. That eventual reduction would equal approximately 68.9%, or 15,500 fewer tokens minted daily.
However, PancakeSwap would not implement the full reduction immediately after approval. Its first stage would reduce emissions to 11,000 per day during a roughly three-month, chain-by-chain rollout.
Implementation would begin in November if voters approved the plan. The final reduction to 7,000 would follow CAKE reaching its existing 20% supply-reduction target.
PancakeSwap’s proposal expected that milestone roughly 12 months after the initial stage. The target dates back to April 2025, and measures supply against that earlier baseline. The final step, therefore, depends on a supply milestone rather than a fixed implementation date.
The remaining 7,000 CAKE would support the Pantry ecosystem fund, rather than direct distributions to tokenholders. Meanwhile, reduced token issuance would not necessarily translate into higher CAKE prices. CoinGecko figures showed that CAKE closed at $2.22 on Oct. 20, down from $2.24 on Oct. 14.
<h2 id="h-bnb-chain-trading-and-bstocks-broaden-the-activity-picture" class="wp-block-heading">BNB Chain Trading and bStocks Broaden the Activity Picture</h2>
DefiLlama recorded $4.673 billion in PancakeSwap trading volume on <a href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/binances-bstocks-become-the-fastest-tokenized-equity-product-to-surpass-1-billion-in-assets-under-management-302909925.html" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">BNB Chain</a> over seven days. That accounted for approximately 71% of the network’s $6.542 billion decentralized exchange volume.
BNB Chain’s weekly trading total rose about 40%, while stablecoin capitalization slipped roughly 0.6% to $13.1 billion. These readings suggested stronger turnover without a corresponding increase in stablecoin supply.
PancakeSwap crypto trading also extended into tokenized securities before the October governance vote. A June protocol announcement said bStocks became tradable through its interface on June 12.
Binance reported on Oct. 15 that bStocks topped $1 billion in assets under management. Its announcement also cited over $40 billion in cumulative volume and 11.2% deployment into decentralized finance.
Those figures covered the broader bStocks product, not deposits held solely on PancakeSwap. They indicated expanding tokenized-equity use but did not establish a direct cause for V3 liquidity growth.
The pending vote now tests whether higher fee retention can sustain deposits after its phased rollout. Until implementation, current TVL figures describe positioning, not the proposal’s proven impact.
