 <a href="https://coincodex.com/crypto/ethereum/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Ethereum</a> is approaching a major network milestone as its Glamsterdam upgrade prepares to activate on the Hoodi testnet on October 26, potentially giving investors a fresh catalyst while ETH struggles to establish a sustained recovery.
 The cryptocurrency has recently traded around $2,450-$2,500 after rebounding from the $2,330 region. A move toward $2,800 would require roughly a 13% increase from $2,475, making the coming test an important event to watch rather than a guaranteed bullish trigger.Ethereum's October 26 Upgrade Brings a 200 Million Gas Test
 According to the <a href="https://blog.ethereum.org/en/2026/10/16/glamsterdam-hoodi-announcement" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Ethereum Foundation</a>, Glamsterdam will activate on Hoodi at 17:42:48 UTC on October 26, at epoch 132,352.
 The upgrade will raise Hoodi's gas limit to 200 million, following its successful Sepolia activation on October 6.
 Glamsterdam introduces enshrined proposer-builder separation, which integrates key block-building arrangements directly into Ethereum's protocol. It also introduces block-level access lists designed to make transaction processing and validation more efficient.
 These changes support Ethereum's long-term scaling ambitions by making larger blocks easier for network participants to verify.
 Coinpaper previously reported the <a href="https://coinpaper.com/37479/ethereum-price-prediction-glamsterdam-upgrade-targets-200m-gas-limit" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">200-million gas milestone</a>, identifying it as an important technical step rather than an immediate increase in mainnet capacity.&amp;lt;iframe src=”https://widgets.coincodex.com/w/843f9ff1-5dea-48f0-a9fb-2654114d405b?site=coinpaper&amp;amp;mode=light” width=”100%” height=”420” frameborder=”0” referrerpolicy=”no-referrer-when-downgrade” style=”border:0;background:transparent;border-radius:0px;”&amp;gt;&amp;lt;/iframe&amp;gt;
 The October 26 deployment remains a testnet event. Ethereum users will not automatically receive higher mainnet capacity that day, and the Foundation has not announced a final production rollout.Ethereum Price Faces Resistance as ETF Selling Continues
 Despite the approaching upgrade, Ethereum has struggled to maintain bullish momentum throughout October.
 ETH recently slipped toward $2,330 before recovering above $2,400, leaving traders watching whether the $2,500–$2,550 region can become support.
 Institutional activity remains another obstacle. Coinpaper's recent <a href="https://coinpaper.com/37658/ethereum-price-prediction-1-08-b-leaves-eth-et-fs-as-bulls-defend-critical-2-400-suppor" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">ETF analysis</a> documented approximately $1.08 billion in cumulative Ethereum ETF withdrawals during October.
 Earlier, BlackRock's Ethereum fund contributed heavily to a <a href="https://coinpaper.com/37439/ethereum-price-prediction-blackrock-records-2595-million-in-three-day-etf-withdrawals" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">$259.5 million withdrawal period</a>, highlighting the gap between network development and investor appetite.
 The selling has also complicated bullish institutional forecasts, including the <a href="https://coinpaper.com/37331/ethereum-price-prediction-tom-lee-sees-112-rally-to-5000-but-a-major-buyer-could-soon-stop" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">$5,000 target</a> discussed in previous Coinpaper coverage.
 A successful Hoodi activation could strengthen confidence in Ethereum's roadmap, but it would not directly establish new demand for ETH.Ethereum Price Prediction: Can ETH Reach $2,800?
 The bullish scenario requires ETH to reclaim $2,500–$2,550 and sustain daily closes above that region.
 That would improve the outlook toward $2,600, followed by a potential recovery toward $2,800 if trading volumes strengthen and institutional withdrawals moderate.
 The latter level represents a conditional price target, not a projected consequence of Glamsterdam's activation.
 Conversely, another failure near $2,550 could leave Ethereum vulnerable to a retest of $2,400. A sustained breakdown beneath that threshold would expose the $2,300 area.
 Previous <a href="https://coinpaper.com/36991/ethereum-price-prediction-crowded-longs-leave-2500-support-vulnerable" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">derivatives analysis</a> identified how leveraged positioning can amplify price declines when important support levels fail.
 Ethereum's successful <a href="https://coinpaper.com/11111/ethereum-sets-december-3-for-fusaka-hard-fork-launch" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Fusaka rollout</a> previously demonstrated the importance of staged network upgrades, with testing and client coordination preceding mainnet changes.
