The Brasil 22 Token (B22) is a digital memecoin <a style="color: #0000ff;" href="https://www.bittime.com/en/blog/airdrop-brasil-22-token-b22-syarat-cara-kerja-risiko?hl=en-US#:~:text=Airdrop%20Brasil%2022%20Token%20(B22)%3A%20Requirements%2C%20How,about%20the%20B22%20airdrop%20are%20still%20busy." rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">launched</a> on the Solana blockchain that rewards users with financial incentives for political promotion. The developers promised airdrops of up to 30,000 tokens to people who posted social media videos encouraging citizens to vote for presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro.

This digital marketing strategy quickly triggered a political scandal. The Workers’ Party (PT) filed an electoral lawsuit alleging the scheme amounted to illegal vote-buying and abuse of economic power. Acting on this complaint, the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) ordered the immediate suspension of the B22 project website. Flávio Bolsonaro’s official campaign completely denied any involvement with the token creators and launched its own legal action to shut the unauthorized project down.
However, the controversy started a national debate online when user AndredeRNegro2 asked why the Bolsonaristas defending Flávio Bolsonaro did not open his fiscal, telephone, and banking secrecy records.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet">
 Por que os bolsonaristas estão defendendo que Flávio Bolsonaro não abra os seus sigilos fiscal, telefônico e bancário?
 O que eles temem?

</blockquote>
The question also attracted reactions from other users, including professor @Mauramontella, who wrote that Bolsonaro supporters were defending Flávio because they did not want to face the possibility that they had supported a politician accused of wrongdoing. However, this shows the professor’s personal opinion, not proof of Flávio’s guilt.

These accusations deeply frustrated voters. X user @Gugaperdigao expressed frustration with both political camps, suggesting that Brazil needed a fresh start without supporters of either Bolsonaro or Lula.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet">

The user also questioned Flávio’s reluctance to disclose his financial records and raised doubts about Lula’s own financial history. Meanwhile, @refutandotweets argued that Lula had also faced allegations involving concealed assets, suggesting that financial scrutiny should apply to both political sides.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet">
 @AndradeRNegro2 Andrade, um dos crimes do Lula não foi “ocultação de patrimônio”? Não é óbvio que não vão achar nada no nome do Lula?

<h3 id="span-style-font-weight-400-the-token-scandal-raises-questions-about-crypto-funded-political-campaigns-span">The token scandal raises questions about crypto-funded political campaigns</h3>
When digital assets are used to financially reward online political promotion, the line between genuine grassroots support and paid advertising completely disappears. This poses a serious threat to election integrity because it lets untraceable, wealthy entities bypass standard campaign finance limits and manufacture the illusion of widespread political popularity.
An example occurred during the 2022 United States midterm elections, when the FTX cryptocurrency exchange collapsed. Former executives Ryan Salame and Sam Bankman-Fried illegally funnelled over $90 million into political races. Because US law strictly limits how much an individual can donate, the executives used complex crypto transfers to fund “straw donors”, subordinate employees who made massive political donations under their own names using the company’s hidden digital money.
This scandal proved how digital assets can be weaponized to secretly finance political campaigns and manipulate elections without the electoral commission noticing until it is too late.
<h3 id="span-style-font-weight-400-the-scandal-may-influence-crypto-regulation-in-brazil-span">The scandal may influence crypto regulation in Brazil</h3>
This use of digital assets for national elections may push the Brazilian government to enact regulatory changes to protect future voting cycles.
The Brazilian Comissão de Valores Mobiliários (CVM), the regulatory agency that supervises and regulates the Brazilian capital market, may mandate strict disclosure rules for smart contracts
Also, the Central Bank of Brazil (BCB) may demand that any licensed cryptocurrency exchange operating within the country enforce “Know Your Customer” (KYC) tracking. Exchanges may be legally required to automatically freeze the accounts of any retail user attempting to cash out political memecoins, ensuring that anonymous campaign money cannot be converted into real-world Brazilian Reals without the government knowing exactly who is receiving the cash.
Meanwhile, Brazilian Finance Minister Dario Durigan <a style="color: #0000ff;" href="https://defi-planet.com/2026/10/brazil-offers-business-loans-to-offset-new-labour-and-tax-costs/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">announced</a> that the government will offer specialized business loans to help companies manage the financial strain of two massive economic overhauls.
