XRP recorded $145.6 million in spot trading volume on Upbit on October 15, 2026, outpacing Bitcoin at $126.5 million and Ethereum at $92.1 million on the same South Korean exchange, according to U.Today. The ranking placed XRP first in South Korean spot volume among the three major assets, a positioning that persisted into October 16 as aggregate volumes moderated.

U.Today reported that XRP/KRW spot turnover on Upbit exceeded $145.6 million on October 15, 2026, the single-session figure placing the token first in the South Korean spot-volume comparison among the three assets. Bitcoin's $126.5 million and Ethereum's $92.1 million trailed by $19.1 million and $53.5 million, respectively, per the same report.
A single source reported these figures; the exact historical intraday dollar totals were not independently reproduced from an Upbit historical-volume endpoint. The directional ordering is consistent with the official Upbit live ticker at the time of writing, which ranked XRP/KRW above BTC/KRW and ETH/KRW by accumulated 24-hour KRW turnover: approximately KRW 82.97 billion versus KRW 72.46 billion for Bitcoin and KRW 52.61 billion for Ethereum. XRP's margin over Bitcoin on Upbit is also visible in the broader context of product-level XRP and Bitcoin positioning, where the two assets have frequently diverged in recent flow data.
What the XRP Volume Lead Means for Market Attention

Spot volume measures executed buy and sell orders in the underlying asset against the Korean won; a higher KRW turnover for XRP than for Bitcoin indicates that more capital rotated through XRP pairs on that session, not that XRP's market cap or liquidity profile is structurally larger. The Crypto Fear & Greed Index recorded a score of 63, classified as Greed, at the time of writing, suggesting broader market risk appetite was elevated during the period of heightened XRP activity. For related coverage, see Crypto ETF Flows: Altcoins Gain $59M, Bitcoin Loses $120M.

XRP traded at $1.31 with a 24-hour change of -1.71%, alongside a global market capitalization of approximately $82.8 billion and a global 24-hour spot volume of roughly $1.31 billion. The South Korean XRP/KRW turnover of $145.6 million thus represented a meaningful concentration of activity relative to the asset's global exchange footprint. Altcoin ETF flow data has similarly shown XRP and Ethereum diverging from Bitcoin in recent ETF flow periods, reinforcing that South Korean spot activity is not isolated.

A one-session volume lead does not establish a demand trend. U.Today noted that XRP remained ahead as volumes cooled on October 16, but supplied no second-day dollar figure; treating a single data point as a directional signal requires corroboration from subsequent sessions.

Key Details to Watch After XRP's South Korean Volume Spike

The primary observable follow-up metric is whether XRP/KRW turnover maintains its rank above BTC/KRW and ETH/KRW in subsequent Upbit 24-hour windows. The live ticker confirmed the ordering persisted at press time, with an absolute KRW gap of roughly KRW 10.5 billion between XRP and Bitcoin, a spread that warrants monitoring for compression or widening. Bitcoin's own flow trajectory, including the $310.7 million single-day inflow recorded by Fidelity FBTC, illustrates how quickly institutional capital can shift between assets at the product level.

Price confirmation is absent: XRP's 24-hour change of -1.71% at press time indicates that elevated turnover did not translate into an upward price move within the observed window. A sustained KRW gap above KRW 10 billion between XRP/KRW and BTC/KRW on the Upbit ticker would support the case that October 15 reflected a structural shift in Korean retail preference; a collapse below KRW 3 billion would indicate mean reversion. Bitcoin ETF inflows have remained constructive in recent sessions, as seen in the $2.39 billion weekly inflow period led by IBIT, which could redirect institutional capital away from spot altcoin venues if that trend extends.
