Bitcoin is trading near $83,360 on October 13, 2026, up about 0.3% over the past 24 hours after rebounding from an overnight dip below $81,000, according to CoinGecko market data. The recovery came even as South Korea’s KOSPI index closed down 5.46%, leaving the largest cryptocurrency roughly 34% below its October 2025 record of $126,080 and still inside the $81,000 to $84,000 range that has defined recent sessions.

The rebound keeps Bitcoin’s focus on Wednesday’s U.S. consumer price index report, the final inflation print before the Federal Reserve’s October 27-28 policy meeting. The macro backdrop remains restrictive: Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack said in an October 12 speech that a restrictive stance is appropriate to ensure a timely return to 2% inflation, and that she prefers smaller policy adjustments made relatively quickly rather than waiting for a larger correction.

Bitcoin Held $81,000 as South Korean Equities Sold Off

Bitcoin slipped below $81,000 in early October 13 trading as a sell-off in South Korean technology and semiconductor stocks deepened. The KOSPI fell 5.46% on the session, with memory-chip makers leading the losses, and briefly traded below the 6,000 level. The index also fell below its 200-day moving average for the first time since late July, underscoring the scale of the rout. Bitcoin initially fell alongside risk assets before climbing back above $83,000 while Korean equities stayed under pressure.

The divergence does not prove a durable shift in demand. It shows that buyers stepped in around the $81,000 area, a level that has held as support several times this month, even as equity investors cut exposure to Asian tech names. The move follows a pullback earlier in the month that pushed Bitcoin below $83,000, which this site analyzed in its breakdown of the pressure from yields, oil and ETF outflows.

The Macro Backdrop Weighing on Bitcoin

Bitcoin has traded more like a long-duration risk asset than a safe haven in 2026, falling with growth equities as rate expectations have shifted. The Federal Reserve raised interest rates in September and has signaled that another increase remains possible if inflation does not ease, while the U.S. dollar has traded near an 18-month high. The 10-year Treasury yield has held near 5.2%, just below the roughly 5.31% multi-decade high reached earlier in October. Higher yields raise the return available on government debt and tend to weigh on assets like Bitcoin that generate no income. That leaves the September CPI report, due at 8:30 a.m. ET on October 14, as the market’s next decision point.

Key Levels to Watch Around the CPI Report

Bitcoin’s short-term structure is defined by the $81,000 floor it has defended this month and resistance near $84,000, where sell orders have repeatedly capped rallies. A hotter-than-expected inflation reading could push the 10-year yield back toward its recent peak and test the $81,000 to $80,000 support zone. A softer reading could ease pressure on yields and open a move back toward the $86,000 to $87,000 area where Bitcoin topped out in early October.

These levels describe the current trading range rather than a directional forecast, echoing the pattern seen during Bitcoin’s earlier rebound above $82,000. Bitcoin remains down about 2.9% over seven days and about 4.7% since the start of 2026, even as it has climbed roughly 8% from its level a month ago.
