Why Is Tonkeeper Becoming Keeper?
Tonkeeper has rebranded as Keeper as the self-custodial wallet expands beyond the TON ecosystem and adds support for six additional blockchain networks. The wallet, which says it has more than 77 million registered users, now supports TON, Bitcoin, Ethereum, TRON, BNB Smart Chain, Arbitrum and Base. The expansion turns what began as a TON-focused product into a broader multichain wallet while preserving its existing TON integration. The change gives Keeper access to users and assets across several of crypto's largest networks rather than relying primarily on activity within TON. It also broadens the wallet's potential addressable market as self-custody providers compete to become the main interface through which users hold, trade and spend digital assets. "Keeper is the next chapter: taking the simplicity we’re known for beyond TON and into the broader crypto economy," The Open Platform founder and CEO Andrew Rogozov said. "Our ambition is simple: to build the default self-custodial wallet for a multichain world, where people can hold, trade, and spend freely across any chain."

What Changed Behind the Wallet?
The rebrand follows a management change announced last month when The Open Platform, known as TOP, took over operational leadership of Tonkeeper. Co-founders Oleg Andreev and Oleg Illarionov remain shareholders, while Rogozov led the business through the transition. The change gives TOP a more direct role in shaping the wallet's product strategy as it moves beyond its original TON-only focus. Keeper's multichain expansion also reflects a wider challenge for blockchain wallets. Users increasingly hold assets across multiple networks, forcing wallet providers to either support more chains directly or risk losing activity to competing platforms that offer a broader range of assets, swaps and decentralized applications. For Keeper, the move is particularly notable because its scale was built largely through TON, a blockchain closely associated with Telegram's crypto ecosystem. Expanding into Bitcoin, Ethereum and major EVM networks gives the wallet a path to compete for users whose activity extends beyond Telegram-linked applications and TON-native assets.

Keeper is shifting from a TON-specific wallet into a broader crypto distribution platform. If it can convert its existing user base into multichain trading, DeFi and payments activity, the rebrand could materially expand the wallet's role beyond simple asset custody.

How Will Keeper Handle Multichain Transactions?
Keeper will retain Battery, its gasless transaction infrastructure, which is designed to let users pay network fees without separately holding the native gas token required by each blockchain. That feature becomes more important as the wallet adds networks with different fee assets. A user interacting across Ethereum, TON, TRON and BNB Smart Chain would normally need to maintain separate native-token balances for transaction costs. Keeper plans to extend Battery across all supported networks to reduce that friction. TOP said it will continue building out the wallet's multichain infrastructure over the next year. Planned additions include native decentralized finance services, cross-chain swaps, everyday spending tools and an integrated browser for decentralized applications. The roadmap suggests Keeper is being developed as more than a storage interface. The combination of swaps, DeFi access and spending tools could keep more user activity inside the wallet rather than sending customers to separate exchanges or applications.

Why Are Perpetual Futures Part of the Roadmap?
Keeper also plans to add further financial products, including perpetual futures trading, bringing leveraged derivatives into a wallet that has historically focused on self-custody. Perpetual futures could increase engagement and transaction activity, but they would also move Keeper into a more competitive and operationally complex part of the crypto market. Wallets increasingly compete with centralized exchanges by integrating swaps, staking, lending and derivatives directly into self-custodial interfaces. The expansion therefore puts Keeper into competition not only with other wallets but also with exchanges and trading applications seeking to own the user relationship. Its existing 77 million registered users give Keeper a potentially large distribution base. The next test is whether that TON-heavy audience will use the wallet across multiple chains and adopt the broader set of financial products TOP plans to introduce.
