The leading privacy crypto coins have taken a hit. The ZEC price has pulled back from its all-time highs and is now trading well below $500, while Monero has also suffered losses. Both of these coins had been trading at multi-year highs following a scorching bull run that saw their combined market capitalization exceed $15 billion. As the privacy crypto market searches for alternatives to the legacy projects, GhostwareOS ($GHOST) has become the leading contender for the best crypto to buy now before 2026 due to its privacy solution, attractive price, and rapidly expanding community.
Could GHOST Become the Leading Privacy Crypto?
The best crypto to buy now is likely to be a privacy crypto play due to the extremely bullish sentiment around this sector of the crypto market. GHOST is arguably the most intriguing new project in this area, offering traders who missed out on XMR and ZEC an opportunity to gain exposure to a privacy coin before its valuation surges. The project’s vision focuses on protecting digital freedom and empowering users to interact online without surveillance or censorship. Drawing inspiration from organizations such as the Freedom of the Press Foundation, the GHOST team aims to create tools that restore user privacy and control over data in a time when government regulation and centralized control are tightening across the crypto industry. The GhostPay feature will be the first of many privacy solutions driving utility and value for the token on Solana. GhostPay enables private peer-to-peer payments through encrypted routing and address masking, setting the foundation for broader adoption within the Solana ecosystem. Since launch, GHOST has achieved early success, with over 10,000 holders and a market capitalization of around $10 million. This is a fraction of legacy privacy coins like ZEC and XMR, which are valued in the billions. Analysts believe that GHOST’s advanced technology, combined with its scalability and growing community, positions it as one of the best cryptos to buy now and a strong contender to lead the next phase of the privacy coin market.

XMR Price Crash: More Pain to Follow?
The XMR price never managed to keep pace with ZEC. Nonetheless, it posted very strong returns compared to most of the market in November when the privacy narrative started to reach highs that hadn’t been seen since 2021. However, the recent pullback has seen the Monero price shed around 20% of its gains, and more profit-taking could ensue, especially if capital starts rotating into smaller-cap privacy plays like GHOST.

ZEC Price Struggles as Profit Takers Emerge
The ZEC price has pulled back from its 2025 high of around $720. The leading privacy crypto surged at an unprecedented rate in October and early November, pushing its market capitalization to over $10 billion. A pullback was, in hindsight, inevitable, and it has since given up a considerable chunk of its returns. However, it is still around 1000% in the green over the past year. As capital rotates out of ZEC, some traders expect smaller-cap projects like GHOST to benefit.

The Future of GHOST vs. Legacy Privacy Cryptos
The future of crypto appears to be at least partly focused on privacy once again. The idea of privacy was at the heart of the industry in its early days, but as government regulations became the norm, some members of the community felt that this principle was being forgotten. The ZEC price rally showed that demand for privacy remains strong, and now traders are turning to GHOST as the best crypto to buy for anyone looking to gain exposure to the privacy crypto meta in 2025 and beyond.
