<a href="https://captainaltcoin.com/solana-vs-ethereum-why-sol-could-smash-eth-in-the-next-leg-of-the-bull-run/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Solana has officially passed Ethereum </a>in staking market cap, becoming the largest blockchain by staked value. Fresh data shows that Solana’s staking market cap now stands at approximately $67–70 billion, narrowly edging out Ethereum’s $65–68 billion.
According to the latest figures, around 67–70% of Solana’s total supply – roughly 410–420 million SOL out of 589 million circulating – is actively staked. The network boasts over 1,300 validators and 1.2 million delegators, highlighting broad participation across its ecosystem.
Ethereum, meanwhile, has about 34–35 million ETH staked, representing only 28–30% of its circulating supply. While Ethereum leads in validator count with more than 1 million active validators, participation is limited by the 32 ETH minimum requirement per validator. Liquid staking providers, particularly Lido (holding ~88% of the liquid staking market), dominate ETH’s staking ecosystem.

The difference comes down to yields. Solana currently offers an APY of 8.31–11.5%, with inflation-adjusted returns closer to 12.5%. The network’s inflationary model – now around 4.7% but decreasing annually to 1.5% – plus MEV tips from clients like Jito (used by 92% of stake) make staking more attractive for participants.
Ethereum’s yields are far lower, hovering around 2.98–3.08%, even when factoring in EIP-1559’s burn mechanism that can make ETH supply deflationary during periods of high activity. While Ethereum’s Pectra upgrade earlier in 2025 improved validator efficiency (raising the cap to 2,048 ETH per validator), the gap in returns remains significant.

For now, Solana has cemented itself as the top network by staked value, with participation rates more than double Ethereum’s. While Ethereum continues to lead in terms of developer activity, DeFi TVL, and ecosystem maturity, Solana’s high staking yields and strong validator network are drawing more long-term holders into its ecosystem.
