The Chainlink Reserve, the on-chain treasury run by the @chainlink project, now holds about 6.48 million unsold $LINK tokens, and its total value has risen above $70 million following the latest official purchase. The project has added to the reserve on a regular weekly basis since August 2025 and has shown no sign of selling any of the tokens.
According to official Chainlink disclosures cited by TechFlow on October 31, the reserve added 427,577 LINK in October at a cost of more than $5.3 million, taking total holdings to 6,475,076 LINK.

How the Chainlink Reserve Works

The reserve is not funded by open-market buybacks in the traditional sense. Chainlink announced the reserve in August 2025 as an on-chain vehicle designed to funnel enterprise demand into LINK, accumulating the token from fees paid by large institutions and on-chain usage fees from decentralized applications. The mechanism, known as Payment Abstraction, lets users pay for Chainlink services in formats such as stablecoins, which are then programmatically swapped into LINK on decentralized exchanges.
At launch, the reserve already held more than $1 million worth of LINK. Chainlink said it does not plan any withdrawals from the reserve for several years. The project also published a dashboard at reserve.chain.link to track the balance, along with the reserve contract on Etherscan.

Reserve Growth and Market Context

The pace of accumulation has been steady. On January 30, 2026, the reserve held 1,774,215.90 LINK, worth more than $19 million at the time. By mid-October, on-chain monitoring by Onchain Lens showed the reserve had cumulatively acquired 6.29 million LINK for $70.76 million, with the holding valued at $78.3 million.
Figures vary by source and date because the value of the holding moves with the LINK price. The $70 million figure refers to the reserve's overall size, while the total cost of purchases is a separate measure.
The reserve has not insulated the token from market weakness. One report put the reserve at 6.29 million LINK, worth about $78 million as of mid-October 2026, while noting that Chainlink has never committed to a purchase price or a schedule, and the reserve's mandate is network sustainability rather than price support. According to CoinGecko, around 766.8 million LINK are in circulation, with total supply capped at one billion.
For $LINK holders, the reserve represents a growing block of tokens removed from active supply, backed by revenue from network usage rather than by token sales.
