A crypto analyst known as Market Eagle posted a weekly price chart for XRP against the euro on X, presenting a full decade of price action from 2017 through late 2026. Market Eagle attached the brief caption “A decade” to the chart, which uses a logarithmic scale to capture the major cycles in XRP’s history.

The chart illustrates XRP/EUR’s performance over ten years on the Bitstamp exchange. A horizontal line marks roughly €1.16, representing the current price as of the post. This level aligns with a consolidation range that first emerged after XRP’s major rally in early 2018.

According to the chart, XRP surged near €3.00 at the start of 2018, then saw a sharp decline. It partially recovered in 2021 and moved to a local high near €2.00 in early 2025. Recent price action shows XRP pulling back once again toward the same horizontal support near €1.16, echoing its behavior after the market peak nearly eight years earlier.

The chart drew attention by highlighting that despite a decade of major cycles and events, XRP’s price remains close to a key level first reached in 2018.

Analysts and holders react

The post generated considerable discussion among community members and analysts. Tuck Ricco, another analyst, interpreted the chart as evidence of an extended “cup and handle” formation, stating that such a pattern could precede a significant move to higher price levels—potentially “straight to 3-4 digits.”

Levi Madarieta pointed out the impact of the US Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) lawsuit against Ripple as a major influence on XRP’s price. He argued that the chart might look “drastically different” if half the decade had not been overshadowed by legal proceedings.

Meanwhile, user vincent voiced frustration over XRP’s prolonged period of limited price action, remarking that even after ten years the asset “still can’t break 4 dollars.” Hugh Jaynis shared that he purchased XRP in late 2017 at around $2.00, echoing the sentiments of many long-term holders who bought near previous highs.

XRP’s decade of volatility and legal challenges

XRP, the digital asset launched by Ripple Labs in 2013, began attracting large-scale retail attention during the 2017 bull market. In December 2020, the SEC filed a lawsuit against Ripple, alleging violations of US securities law. The case continued for several years, intensifying uncertainty around XRP’s regulatory status. Key decisions favored Ripple in 2023, but appeals extended the legal process beyond that year.

Market Eagle’s chart condenses these market and regulatory cycles into one visual, showing that despite repeated surges and setbacks, XRP still trades near levels first established in early 2018. Opinions within the community remain divided on whether the extended period of price compression will eventually lead to a decisive breakout or if the long-term sideways trend will persist.

Some community members argued that protracted legal uncertainty from the SEC case played a critical role in capping XRP’s price progress over the past decade.
