Traders are watching the FOMC meeting, the PCE inflation reading and US GDP figures for signals on where Bitcoin heads next.

Bitcoin traders are bracing for a week packed with macroeconomic catalysts that could shape the cryptocurrency's short-term trajectory. The Federal Reserve's upcoming policy meeting sits at the center of attention, alongside fresh inflation data and a quarterly GDP report. All three releases carry the potential to move risk assets broadly, and Bitcoin has shown repeated sensitivity to shifts in monetary policy expectations over the past several years.

The Federal Open Market Committee meeting is the week's headline event. Investors will parse any statement language for clues about the future path of interest rates. Rate decisions and accompanying commentary from Fed officials have historically triggered sharp moves in crypto markets, since lower rates tend to support riskier assets while hawkish signals often weigh on them.

Inflation data will also draw close scrutiny. The Personal Consumption Expenditures index, the Fed's preferred inflation gauge, is due for release this week. A reading that comes in hotter than expected could reinforce concerns about prolonged restrictive policy. A cooler print, on the other hand, may bolster expectations for eventual rate cuts, a scenario that has previously coincided with renewed appetite for Bitcoin and other digital assets.

GDP figures round out the week's data calendar. Economic growth numbers help investors gauge the broader health of the US economy, feeding into expectations for how the Fed might act going forward. Weaker growth combined with sticky inflation could complicate the policy outlook, a dynamic that markets have had to navigate at various points over the past cycle.

Against this backdrop, market commentary has raised the question of whether Bitcoin could retreat toward the $77,000 level, according to CoinGape. That figure has been floated as a possible downside scenario tied to how the week's events unfold, rather than a fixed prediction. Price action around major macro releases has often been volatile, and outcomes can diverge sharply from pre-event expectations.

Crypto.news similarly framed the week as a test for Bitcoin, pointing to the combination of the Fed decision, inflation data and GDP release as the key variables traders need to watch. The framing underscores how closely intertwined crypto markets have become with traditional macroeconomic signals, a shift from earlier years when digital assets traded with less correlation to broader financial markets.

Market Impact

A hawkish Fed outcome or a hotter-than-expected inflation print could pressure Bitcoin and the broader crypto market, as higher-for-longer rate expectations typically reduce appetite for riskier assets. Conversely, signs of cooling inflation or dovish Fed commentary could support a more constructive tone for digital assets heading into year-end.

Given the cluster of releases within a single week, volatility across crypto markets is likely to pick up regardless of the specific outcomes. Traders positioning around these events should expect price swings tied directly to how each data point compares against consensus expectations, rather than any single predetermined direction.

With the Fed decision, PCE inflation data and GDP figures all landing in close succession, this week represents a significant test of Bitcoin's resilience amid shifting macroeconomic signals.
