Pi Network Slice Token Explained: What It Is and Who Gets It
Search interest in the pi network slice token is high, and so is the confusion around it. <a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/pi-network-roadmap-key-milestones-updates" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Pi Network Roadmap</a> pages are useful starting points.
People keep asking whether it is real, whether it can be earned and whether it will ever be worth money. The short answer is more specific than most social posts make it sound.
The pi network slice token is called SLICE, a test token released on Pi's testnet Launchpad in June 2026.&nbsp;
Reports describe it as a testnet-only asset with no monetary value that is not planned for mainnet. For broader context on the project, the<a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/pi-network-ecosystem-guide-new-pioneers" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Pi Network Ecosystem Guide</a>.
Its purpose was to let Pioneers practise new token mechanics. Anyone selling it, or promising a price, is not describing anything the project has announced.

The questions repeat: what is it, how can it be obtained, when does it launch and is it worth anything.&nbsp;
Those queries mix two different things. One is a real test with a real name. The other is an assumption that a new Pi token must be an investment.
The honest reading of the pi network slice-token is that the test was real, the token was not designed to hold value, and the rumours grew faster than the facts.

According to CaptainAltcoin, the Pi Core Team said on X on 17 June 2026 that its Launchpad test tokens aim to "introduce Pioneers to new ecosystem token mechanics" and educate the community on taking part in DeFi mechanisms.&nbsp;
The same report says Pi stressed that SLICE is "strictly a Testnet token" that will not move to mainnet.
BeInCrypto calls it the second Launchpad test token and says participation ran until Pi2Day in June.&nbsp;
Neither outlet gives a market price, because none exists. Readers who want the original wording can look at the Core Team's<a href="https://x.com/PiCoreTeam" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">X account</a> and the official blog.

SLICE was a rehearsal for the exchange that Protocol 27 was meant to bring. Crypto.news says the Launchpad stress-tested the testnet DEX through the SLICE launch, and that the first round drew about 242,000 participants committing 15.92 million Test-Pi.
&nbsp;After that round, the Core Team added a fair access rule to stop very large participants from dominating allocations.
The wider schedule moved around. Protocol 27 was first aimed at 15 September 2026, according to crypto.news.&nbsp;
TokenPost reported on 26 September that Pi announced completion on 25 September and set Protocol 28 for mainnet on 16 October, with node operators told to update by&nbsp; October.&nbsp;
An October report said activation was still pending "subject to completion of the rollout," and this article did not confirm the outcome afterwards. Details on that upgrade sit in<a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/pi-network-protocol-v28-explained" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Protocol V28 explained</a>.
None of those reports describe a mainnet SLICE.

The test was open to Pioneers using the Pi Browser, and the cost was Test-Pi, the testnet currency, not real Pi.&nbsp;
BeInCrypto lists the steps: open the Launchpad, review the SLICE project, choose a commitment in Test-Pi and confirm.
CaptainAltcoin adds that a fair access hold replaced the earlier PiPower step. Larger commitments need a larger hold, the ratio is fixed, and held Pi stays with the Pioneer and is returned afterwards.&nbsp;
Since the window for the pi network slice token closed on 28 June, there is nothing to claim now.
<h2 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-how-to-check-any-claim-about-the-pi-network-slice-token-span-span">How to Check Any Claim About the Pi Network Slice Token</h2>
A simple checklist works for any Pi ecosystem token:
<ol>
 <li>Look for the announcement on the official Pi blog or the Core Team's X account.</li>
 <li>Check whether the token is labelled testnet or mainnet. A testnet label means no market value.</li>
 <li>Search for a listing on a tracker such as<a href="https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/pi-network" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">CoinGecko's Pi page</a> and treat a missing price as meaningful.</li>
 <li>Ignore anything that asks for a passphrase, a KYC fee or a wallet connection.</li>
 <li>Wait for a second reliable source before believing a screenshot.</li>
</ol>

<h2 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-red-flags-fake-versions-of-the-pi-network-slice-token-span-span">Red Flags: Fake Versions of the Pi Network Slice Token</h2>
Because SLICE had no price, any offer that gives it one is suspicious. Common patterns include:
<ul>
 <li>Sales of the pi network slice token on social media or private chats.</li>
 <li>"Claim tokens" links that ask for a passphrase.</li>
 <li>Claims that SLICE will convert into Pi coins or a mainnet airdrop.</li>
 <li>Fake KYC or "migration" pages that charge a fee.</li>
</ul>
Pi has said very little about conversion, so any confident promise should be treated as invented.
Final Thoughts on the Pi Network Slice Token
The pi network slice token turns out to be a modest story: a practice token&nbsp; &nbsp; for a bigger exchange upgrade, labelled as a test from the start.&nbsp;
The risk is not the token itself but the people who borrow its name. Readers who stick to the official blog, treat testnet labels seriously and never hand over a passphrase will avoid most of the trouble, and anyone wanting real market data should check an independent tracker for the main Pi coin instead.
such as<a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/pi-network-price-prediction-next-rally-10x-possible" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Pi Network Price Prediction</a> should be read as opinion, not evidence of a SLICE market.
