The SLICE Token is a test token. Pi’s-official announcement says it lives only on the testnet, carries no monetary value, and will never go onto the mainnet. That means it can’t be sold for real money.
Plenty of Pioneers joined the June 2026 Launchpad test, and many are now asking what they actually hold. The short answer is a practice token, not an asset.
Next comes how SLICE worked, what its pool shows, and where its status can be checked. PI-is a separate token, and how it gets used in daily life is covered in this look at<a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/pi-network-utility-explained-tracking-real-world-adoption" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Pi-utility and adoption</a>.
<h2 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-what-is-the-slice-token-and-where-did-it-come-from-span-span">What Is the SLICE Token, and Where Did It Come From?</h2>
The SLICE Token is a practice coin from the Pi-Core Team. It exists only on the testnet, the trial side of the<a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/crypto-blogs-details/pi-network-review-2026-price-protocol-roadmap-update" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Pi Network</a>, which is why it carries no real-world value.
Pioneers got it by committing Test-Pi, a play version of-Pi, through the Launchpad in the Pi Browser. The point was to let people see how a token launch works before real ones show up on Mainnet.
SLICE is the second test token in this program. The first, IRRA, came out on Pi-Day 2026. Pi-says more than 478,000 Pioneers staked Test-Pi in that round, and over 198,000 of them went on to commit it.
SLICE kept the same idea with fewer steps. It also connected to a real app, the game Slice of-Pi, where IRRA had only a demo. Pi's<a href="https://minepi.com/blog/launchpad-update-flow/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Launchpad update post</a> explains the new flow.
Real PI-comes from a different route, which the breakdown of<a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/pi-network-mobile-mining-explained-how-pi-is-earned" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Pi mobile mining</a> lays out step by step.

<h2 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-can-slice-tokens-be-sold-for-real-money-on-pi-network-span-span">Can SLICE Tokens Be Sold for Real Money on Pi-Network?</h2>
No. Pi-calls SLICE a Testnet token with no monetary value, and Testnet tokens don’t turn into cash.&nbsp;Launchpad does show a SLICE price, but it’s an exchange ratio against Test&nbsp;inside a practice pool. It doesn’t prove that anyone would pay real money for it.
A few signs point to a scam:
<ul>
 <li>A fee to “unlock” or “convert” SLICE</li>
 <li>A claimed dollar price</li>
 <li>A request for a wallet seed phrase</li>
</ul>
Pi’s-own rules give none of these any basis.
<h2 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-why-did-pi-network-hand-out-slice-test-tokens-to-pioneers-span-span">Why Did Pi-Network Hand Out SLICE Test Tokens to Pioneers?</h2>
The project says the test teaches Pioneers how new ecosystem tokens and DeFi tools work. It also collects feedback for a future Mainnet Launchpad, a goal<a href="https://minepi.com/blog/pi-launchpad/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">&nbsp;Pi Launchpad announcement</a> lays out.
Tying SLICE to a live game gives&nbsp;real usage data, such as how bonuses change player behavior. Developers who want their own apps in front of Pioneers can start with the<a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/pi-network-sdk-explained-tools-for-app-development" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Pi SDK tools</a>.
<h2 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-how-does-the-slice-token-liquidity-pool-set-its-price-span-span">How Does the SLICE Token Liquidity Pool Set Its Price?</h2>
A liquidity pool is a shared pot of two assets that people swap between. This one holds SLICE and Test.&nbsp;Under Pi’s model, the Test-Pi committed during a launch doesn’t go to the project team. It goes into the pool next to the new token.
An automated market maker sets prices from the balance of the two assets. In the simplified model, multiplying both reserves gives a number that stays roughly steady during a swap before fees. Buying SLICE adds Test-Pi and removes SLICE, so its price in Test&nbsp;rises. Selling does the opposite. Pi’s<a href="https://minepi.com/blog/launchpad-liquidity-pool/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">SLICE liquidity pool recap</a> covers the details.
<h2 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-how-did-more-than-242-000-pioneers-join-the-slice-test-span-span">How Did More Than 242,000 Pioneers Join the SLICE Test?</h2>
Joining took five steps in the Pi-Browser:
<ol>
 <li>Open Pi-Launchpad.</li>
 <li>Look over the SLICE project.</li>
 <li>Pick an amount of Test-Pi to commit.</li>
 <li>Confirm.</li>
 <li>Try the Slice of Pi-app and send feedback.</li>
</ol>
Entry closed on Pi2Day, June 28, 2026, so that window has ended.
Ten million SLICE is a small, fixed test supply. PI-works on a much bigger scale, as<a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/pi-network-tokenomics-explained-supply-distribution" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow"> Pi Network tokenomics</a> explains.
<h2 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-how-is-the-slice-token-different-from-the-real-pi-on-mainnet-span-span">How Is the SLICE Token Different From the Real PI-on Mainnet?</h2>
PI is the live token on Mainnet. SLICE has no market and no mainnet plan. Test-Pi isn’t real PI-either.
For the wider picture of, the<a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/pi-network-2019-to-2026-complete-guide" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Pi Network complete guide</a> is a good start.
<h2 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-can-the-slice-token-ever-move-from-testnet-to-mainnet-span-span">Can the SLICE Token Ever Move From Testnet to Mainnet?</h2>
Pi-says it won’t. The testnet is the practice space, and the mainnet is where real PI-lives.
Real PI-follows its own route, and the<a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/pi-network-mainnet-migration-guide" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Mainnet migration guide</a> walks through it.
<h2 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-how-can-pioneers-check-the-official-slice-token-status-span-span">How Can Pioneers Check the Official SLICE Token Status?</h2>
Status can change, so the source matters. Pioneers can look at:
<ul>
 <li>The Pi-Core Team’s blog on the official Pi-website</li>
 <li>The Pi-Core Team’s official account on X</li>
 <li>The Launchpad app inside the Pi-Browser</li>
</ul>
Pi’s-rules for SLICE are clear today. The design of the future Mainnet Launchpad may still change, so SLICE shouldn’t be tied to it. The<a href="https://www.coingabbar.com/en/pi-network-ecosystem-2026" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Pi-ecosystem overview</a> shows where Launchpad fits.
<h3 id="span-span-style-font-size-16px-conclusion-what-to-remember-about-the-slice-token-span-span">Conclusion: What to Remember About the SLICE Token</h3>
SLICE is a testnet practice token linked to the Slice of Pi-game. It showed Pioneers how liquidity pools and automatic pricing work, with Test-Pi standing in for real money.&nbsp;Pi-says it has no monetary value and won’t reach Mainnet. The future Launchpad design is still open, so official Pi channels are the place to check.
