US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded approximately $635 million in net outflows on Oct. 22, according to data from SoSoValue, erasing nearly 60% of the gains accumulated across the prior three trading sessions in a single day.

US Spot Bitcoin ETFs Record About $635M in Net Outflows

SoSoValue data showed that US-listed spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds collectively shed roughly $635 million in net assets on Oct. 22. The figure represents a single-session reversal of a multi-day inflow trend that had built up across the three preceding trading days. For related coverage, see Bitcoin Eyes $85K: What the Charts Are Signaling.

The outflow stands in contrast to the modest daily figures recorded earlier in the same week. On Oct. 20, for example, US spot Bitcoin ETFs posted just $23.16M in net inflows, illustrating how quickly the aggregate flow picture can shift across individual sessions.

Oct. 22 Move Reversed Nearly 60% of Three Sessions of Inflows

SoSoValue attributed the Oct. 22 outflow as reversing nearly 60% of the inflows recorded over the prior three sessions. Working from that stated percentage, the three-session inflow total would have been approximately $1.06 billion, though that figure is a derived approximation rather than a separately reported number.

The scale of the single-day reversal is notable relative to recent episodes where individual funds dominated the directional flow. In one prior session, IBIT alone absorbed $665.2M in inflows while other Bitcoin ETFs posted outflows, demonstrating that flow distribution across the product group can be highly uneven from day to day.

The Oct. 22 figure also invites comparison with periods when the aggregate pulled in far larger sums. Earlier this year, Bitcoin ETFs pulled in $1.07 billion in a single session, a contrast that places the most recent outflow within a wider range of observed daily flow magnitudes.

What the Reported ETF Flow Data Shows

The available information consists of one reported daily outflow figure and a stated comparison with the preceding three sessions, both attributed to SoSoValue. The data does not identify which individual funds drove the Oct. 22 outflow, nor does it provide the breakdown between products.

SoSoValue tracks net flows across the US spot Bitcoin ETF complex, which now encompasses multiple competing products following approvals by regulators. Changes in ETF flow methodology and product structure have continued; Grayscale, for instance, recently opened in-kind investing for its Bitcoin and other crypto ETFs, a structural development that can affect how assets move through the wrapper.

A single session's outflow does not establish a directional trend. The Oct. 22 reading captures one data point within what SoSoValue's own framing describes as a broader multi-session inflow period, the majority of which remained intact after the reversal.

Bitcoin's network fundamentals, including hashrate and difficulty, operate independently of short-term ETF flow data. Sustained changes in product-level demand are typically visible only across multiple reporting periods rather than from any individual session's figure.
