Four

Chainlink

Plenty of sportsbooks accept crypto, yet only some of them use blockchains for more than deposits. Operators apply the Web3 label to both, which makes it hard to tell a crypto cashier from an on-chain betting system.

Four practical tests separate the two. They ask how a player signs in, who holds the funds, where the platform records settlement, and whether a token gives holders any role.

Each platform, run through those tests, shows how far Web3 design reaches into the betting itself.

Four Tests for a Web3 Sportsbook

Each test looks at a different layer of the platform. Together they show whether blockchains shape the product or only the payments.

Test

Question it asks

Stronger Web3 signal

Wallet access

Can a wallet act as the account?

Sign-in by wallet, without a separate form

Custody

Who controls funds between bets?

Player wallet or smart contract pool

Settlement record

Where does the outcome of a bet live?

On a public blockchain

Token role

Does a token give holders a function?

Staking, rewards or governance

Why Each Test Matters to a Bettor

Wallet access changes the sign-up experience and links an account to a public address. Custody decides who holds funds when a bet is open, which shapes what happens if a platform pauses.

Settlement records decide what a bettor can verify independently. Results come from real-world data, so even on-chain platforms rely on an oracle or feed, as a look at bets that settle on-chain explains.

Tokens vary the most. Some offer rewards or staking, others give governance votes, and some platforms skip tokens altogether.

8 Sportsbooks Checked on the Four Tests

Order reflects how many of the four tests each platform meets and how clearly it documents its design. Each entry ends with one limit worth knowing.

1. Dexsport

Dexsport lets players sign in with six wallets or with email, Google and Telegram, and positions its sportsbook as a hybrid that records wagers and payouts on-chain while odds come from off-chain data. Deposits join a shared liquidity pool.

Dexsport's DESU token offers staking and reward routes, and its contract passed CertiK and Pessimistic audits. Dexapp LTD holds an Anjouan licence.

2. Overtime

Overtime accepts wallets on the Optimism, Arbitrum and Base networks, with account abstraction available for newcomers. Bets trade against protocol liquidity through an automated market maker, and Chainlink oracles feed results.

Overtime's OVER token, launched in April 2025, ties into the protocol. Results depend on Chainlink data providers, and access varies by country.

3. Bookmaker.xyz

Bookmaker.xyz serves as a front end for the Azuro protocol, where liquidity providers fund a shared pool that backs every bet. Players connect a wallet and sign each wager, and smart contracts handle settlement.

Pool-based pricing means odds come from the protocol's data providers and liquidity. Market depth can trail centralised books on smaller fixtures.

4. SX Bet

SX Bet works as a betting exchange, matching one wallet's order against another's. Matched funds wait in an escrow contract until a reporter posts the result on-chain, and the contract pays the winning side.

Prices on an exchange come from other users, so quiet markets can leave an order unmatched. SX Bet excludes US players.

5. BC.Game

BC.Game accepts wallet login alongside email and social routes, and its $BC token rewards activity through the platform's engine. The sportsbook comes from BETBY, beside a large casino and a Prediction Center.

BC.Game holds player balances in a custodial account, so settlement happens inside the platform. Twocent Technology Ltd operates it under an Anjouan licence.

6. Shuffle

Shuffle supports wallet sign-in and offers the SHFL token, which feeds a weekly lottery funded by platform revenue. One login covers its sportsbook and casino.

Shuffle settles bets within its own system, with balances held by the platform. Natural Nine B.V. operates Shuffle, and its terms set out the licence in force.

7. Lucky Block

Lucky Block builds its sportsbook and casino around the LBLOCK token, and WalletConnect or email opens an account. Its cashier takes cards as well as coins.

Lucky Block keeps balances in custodial accounts and settles bets internally. Some user reviews mention withdrawal delays during checks, so the terms deserve a read first.

8. Stake

Stake accepts more than a dozen cryptocurrencies across a sportsbook covering dozens of sports and esports. Registration uses an email and password, and verification levels follow.

Stake holds balances centrally and settles bets off-chain, which places it as a crypto sportsbook more than a Web3 one. Curaçao licenses Stake via Medium Rare N.V.

Web3 Labels Versus Web3 Plumbing

Crypto payments alone do not make a sportsbook Web3. Wallet access, custody, on-chain settlement and token functions each add a layer, and few platforms meet all four.

Each design choice brings trade-offs. On-chain settlement adds transparency, while custodial models often support deeper markets and quicker live pricing. Non-custodial setups shift responsibility for keys and approvals to the player, as an explainer on what non-custodial betting protects against sets out.

Bettors comparing platforms can apply the four tests directly. Our plain-language guide to Web3 sportsbooks covers pools, wallets and settlement in more depth.

Conclusion

Web3 sportsbooks go further than accepting crypto. Four tests separate the models: wallet access, custody of funds, where settlement lives, and whether a token gives holders a role.

Dexsport opens this list with wallet sign-in, a hybrid on-chain record and the DESU token, followed by Overtime, Bookmaker.xyz, SX Bet, BC.Game, Shuffle, Lucky Block and Stake. Fully on-chain protocols score highest on settlement, while custodial platforms tend to offer broader menus.

Each model shifts responsibility differently, so read the terms before choosing. Betting law differs between countries, so confirm the rules at home, bet only at legal age and expect that KYC or AML checks may apply.
