Robert Kiyosaki, author of Rich Dad Poor Dad, says losing everything turned out to be a good thing for him. He shared the view in an Oct. 16 post on X.

TOO MUCH MONEY to NO MONEY
Thank you for reading my previous text. I waited before adding MONEY PROBLEM # 6.
 6. TOO MUCH MONEY to NO MONEY.
This problem hsppens a lot to many who are suddenly rich.
Many professional athletes, movie strs, lottery winners, inheritance…

Kiyosaki wrote that he has gone through this “several times.” He said the benefit came from treating his mistakes as lessons instead of becoming bitter.
He credited his “rich dad” with teaching him this approach. The goal, he said, was to become more financially intelligent after each setback.
Kiyosaki also criticized schools. He said the education system punishes mistakes instead of teaching people to study them.
He argued that fear of errors, or failing to learn from past decisions, can contribute to poverty. “Humans were designed to make mistakes, learn, and grow smarter,” he wrote.
<h2 id="five-money-problems-plus-a-sixth">Five Money Problems, Plus a Sixth</h2>
In a separate Oct. 16 post, Kiyosaki said everyone has money problems, including the wealthy. He listed five: having no money, earning too little, spending more than you earn, lacking funds for the future, and having too much.
“I have had all five problems,” he said. He explained that solving the first four eventually left him with the fifth, having too much money.
He then added a sixth problem. This is going from sudden riches to having nothing.
Kiyosaki tied this to inflated egos or dishonest people getting access to someone’s money. He pointed to professional athletes, movie stars, lottery winners, and people who receive inheritances as examples.
He named managers, accountants, attorneys, and relatives as possible sources of dishonesty.

Kiyosaki has shared similar views on rebuilding wealth in recent months. In July, he discussed a hypothetical $10,000 rebuilding plan that put financial knowledge, mentors, and income skills ahead of buying investments.
On Sept. 27, he warned that sharp drops in stocks and bonds could leave some baby boomers without enough time to rebuild their retirement savings.
In an Oct. 3 statement, he compared preparing for economic trouble to carrying car insurance. He again said he prefers gold, silver, and bitcoin over government-issued money.
He has said these assets protect against a weaker currency and financial instability. He has pointed to heavy debt and loose monetary policy as reasons.
In March, Kiyosaki predicted bitcoin would reach $750,000 one year after a global financial crash he expects. Bitcoin’s price can still fall, and holders can lose buying power if it drops while living costs rise.
In his Oct. 16 posts, Kiyosaki said he and Kim Kiyosaki created the Cashflow board game so people could practice money decisions with play money. Players buy assets, review investment deals, and track the results of their choices.
His closing advice was simple: “Make mistakes, learn, grow, and enjoy a richer life.”
