CoinDesk recently published a chart comparing major cryptocurrencies against their December 2017 and January 2018 peaks. Bitcoin sits +314% above its prior high. BNB leads the list at +2,818%. Ethereum gained +66%. Dogecoin came in at +322%.
XRP sits 62.5% below its January 2018 peak, trading around $1.33. Unlike the others, it is significantly below its 2018 high. Crypto pundit Digital Asset Investor (@digitalassetbuy) responded with a video that reframes the entire picture. To most observers, that gap looks like underperformance. Digital Asset Investor sees it differently.

The Context CoinDesk Left Out

Digital Asset Investor pointed out that the chart does not capture. XRP was the only asset on that list subjected to sustained attacks from multiple directions over that same period. He said, “XRP was the only one out of all of that list that has been attacked in every way known to man, including a five-year SEC lawsuit.”
He also recalled a moment many investors have since forgotten. Before the legal pressure began, XRP had passed Ethereum by market cap and was closing in on Bitcoin. He said the assault on Ripple and XRP was not a coincidence.
The lawsuit led to the suppression and years of underperformance relative to its peers. Digital Asset Investor sees all of it as context, not as evidence of failure.

Why He Remains Bullish On XRP

That suppression period is precisely why Digital Asset Investor holds his position with conviction. He said he is “more bullish on XRP by a long shot than any of them,” referring to Bitcoin, Ethereum, Doge, and BNB.
The legal battle is now resolved, and the court confirmed XRP is not a security. The SEC has since shifted toward a more pro-crypto stance. It recently issued its Innovation Exemption to set clear rules for the crypto space, and the CFTC is doing the same.
The regulatory obstacles that held XRP back for years no longer exist. Digital Asset Investor’s conclusion was clear: “All of the roadblocks are out of the way now.”

What He Expects Next

Digital Asset Investor recently revealed that he is not selling his core XRP position at $5-$10. He has stated clearly that he sees those prices as too early to exit. The CoinDesk chart shows XRP lagging. Digital Asset Investor reads it as confirmation of a compressed asset with every major obstacle now removed. He expects XRP to reach its all-time high and surpass it.
