The XRP Ledger network is on the brink of activating its latest update, fixCleanup3_4_0, which promises to enhance various components such as Single Asset Vaults, lending protocols, automatic market makers, and authorization delegation within its ecosystem. This update aims to fine-tune existing elements like permissioned DEXs and escrow transactions, incorporating essential improvements that focus on operational efficacy and security.

Approval Threshold: Over 80% Required for Activation

For any change to take effect on the XRP Ledger, it is imperative that more than 80% of validators back the update, maintaining this support for a continuous 14-day period. According to data from XRPScan, the upgrade is tentatively scheduled for activation on October 23, 2026, at 09:34 UTC, indicating a potential rollout within the next four days.

fixCleanup3_4_0 aims to rectify numerous technical nuances within the network, with nearly 25 adjustments across various components.

A notable inclusion within this package is the exemption of an IOU issuer’s global freeze rule on their own currency-backed NFT offers. Additionally, an amendment addresses the indirect authorization of pseudo-account counterparts in authorized trust line relationships.

Ongoing Commitment to Security Enhancements

The impending fixCleanup3_4_0 follows a series of security-focused updates that have characterized recent months. In March 2026, Ripple announced the creation of a specialized AI-backed red team to consistently audit vulnerabilities within the XRP Ledger. Known for its enterprise payment solutions and digital asset infrastructure, Ripple has been proactive in strengthening its network’s security and reliability.

The initial security-specific output was the 3.1.3 release, which was dedicated to system fortification without introducing new features. Subsequent updates followed, with fixCleanup3_2_0 being activated in July and fixCleanup3_3_0 in October, targeting improvements across structures like Single Asset Vaults and Automated Market Makers.

October: An Active Month for the XRPL Ecosystem

October has proven to be an intensely active period for the XRP Ledger and Ripple ecosystem. The month commenced with XRP Seoul 2026 on October 3, touted as Asia’s largest XRP event, drawing over 5,000 participants.

Subsequent technical updates, such as Permission Delegation and Batch changes, were activated on October 8 and 9, respectively. Following its rollout, Batch quickly ascended to constitute over 15% of primary net transactions on the XRPL within days, ranking third amongst transaction types.

Looking ahead in October, Swell is set to take place in New York from October 27–29. The event is expected to feature Ripple’s CEO Brad Garlinghouse alongside industry leaders from CME Group, Bullish, Water.org, and representatives from BNY, Coinbase, Robinhood, Barclays, State Street, and Jump.
