Ethereum News Today is led by large wallets and fund flows on October 16, 2026. A whale or institution keeps rotating Bitcoin into Ether.
Morgan Stanley’s Ethereum ETF shows steady buying. A trader holds a highly leveraged position, and stolen DAI has moved into Ether. Solana is also gaining ground in tokenized assets.

Ember Monitoring reports that one whale or institution sold 1,601.1 BTC over five days for about $132 million in USDC. It then bought 53,095 ETH at an average price of $2,497. In the latest day alone, it swapped 288.9 BTC for 23.48 million USDC and bought 9,820 Ether.
At the current price, those coins sit slightly below the average entry, roughly 2% underwater. Traders watch this kind of Ethereum whale activity because large buyers can hint at conviction. Still, one entity does not make a market trend, and accumulation guarantees nothing about future prices. The tracked address set is on Arkham.

Arkham reports that Morgan Stanley’s MSSE ETF bought $4.2 million in Ether over 20 days, with no outflow on any single day. The amount is small. The consistency is what stands out.
BlackRock’s ETHA, by contrast, saw $44.4 million in outflows yesterday. Ethereum ETF flows help show institutional demand, but they are fund flows, not direct purchases by the banks themselves. Readers should confirm fund names and flow data with the issuers before drawing conclusions.

High-Leverage Ethereum Position: Trader Holds $186.7M in Longs

Lookonchain says a trader is long on BTC and Ether with maximum leverage. The positions include:

1,822 BTC worth about $149.5 million, with a liquidation price of $80,637.87.

15,270 ETH worth about $37.25 million, with an ETH liquidation price of $2,406.08.

That liquidation level is only about 1.8% below the current quote. A liquidation closes a position by force when losses wipe out the margin. That can add selling pressure in a fast dip. This belongs to one trader, not necessarily an institution. Check theHypurrscan wallet page for the live status.

PeckShieldAlert reports that the attacker behind an August phishing incident has swapped the $2 million in stolen DAI for 825.5 Ether. A Bofur Capital address was hit by an address poisoning attack after a withdrawal from Compound. Compound itself was not reported as hacked.
In address poisoning, attackers send lookalike wallet addresses so users copy the wrong one from their history. Always check the full address, not just the first and last characters, before signing.

Solana vs Ethereum: RWA Growth and Application Revenue Comparison

Castle Labs says Solana’s real-world asset (RWA) value grew from about $700 million to $4.3 billion in a year. Ethereum’s rose from $15.5 billion to $16.6 billion. Solana’s share of Ethereum’s RWA value climbed from 4.5% to 26%.
Castle Labs also ranks Solana first in 30-day application revenue. Revenue shows how much users pay apps, often from memecoin trading. RWA value shows how much tokenized capital sits on a chain. They measure different things. Ethereum RWA remains far larger in absolute terms, so this is competition, not a verdict on the Ethereum network.

Whale buying and steady ETF inflows may point to demand. Leverage adds liquidation risk, and moving stolen funds raises security concerns. Solana’s RWA push shows that competition for tokenized assets is real.
These are observations, not confirmed bullish or bearish signals. ETH price today shows a gain, yet Ethereum lagged Bitcoin on relative strength in the supplied data, so traders may stay cautious.
