Phong Le, Chief Strategy Officer, has projected that banks could witness the most substantial integration of Bitcoin-based services in the next 12 months. He emphasizes that banks are no longer questioning the value of cryptocurrencies but are instead moving towards them due to inflationary pressures, clearer regulations, and direct customer demand.

Bitcoin Services Gain Momentum in Banking

Le signals a pivotal evolution in the relationship between traditional finance and cryptocurrencies. On the revenue side, banks are increasingly involved in offering crypto custody services, spot fund trades, and Bitcoin-secured loans. This shift underscores that digital assets have progressed beyond mere experimentation.

Phong Le predicts that the next 12 months could mark the most significant surge in Bitcoin banking adoption, prompted by inflation, clearer regulations, and customer demand.

According to the Bitcoin Banking Adoption Index, in the third quarter of 2026, interaction rates among the world’s top 30 banks have climbed to 34%. This data reflects how major financial institutions are transforming crypto services into more visible and revenue-generating business lines.

U.S. Banks Leading the Charge

A noticeable regional distinction has emerged, with U.S.-based financial giants leading the charge. Fidelity tops the list with a 77% adoption rate, followed by JPMorgan Chase at 47%, BNY at 46%, Goldman Sachs at 45%, and Morgan Stanley at 45%. These institutions have expanded their crypto services during a period when Bitcoin’s price hovers above $81,600.

In contrast, banks in Europe and Asia exhibit a more cautious approach. Barclays reports a 30% penetration, Deutsche Bank 27%, and MUFG 18%, choosing to advance with more targeted and limited projects.

Artificial Intelligence and Scarce Asset Focus

Le suggests that artificial intelligence could exert downward pressure on traditionally labor-intensive company stocks, steering investors toward scarce assets, like Bitcoin, which cannot be easily replicated by robots.

Michael Saylor describes Bitcoin as a raw financial energy that companies are transforming into digital credit.

Le also highlights the potential for blockchain networks to gain prominence as AI agents become more prevalent within financial systems. The inability of robots to open accounts with traditional banks might render blockchain a more natural domain for settlement and payment processes. In this era of closely monitored technical breakpoints and critical thresholds, attention extends beyond major assets to rapidly accumulating interest in more speculative areas. The meme token market, for instance, can morph internet trends into multi-million-dollar interests within days. According to data from Fomo, a transaction that propelled a $99 initial investment to approximately $370,000 in Niu Lai exemplifies this vibrant movement. The tracking of not only token prices but also transaction timings and chosen tokens by investors is gaining attention.
The strategic perspective suggests that while the market remains in its early stages, any uncertainties have largely dissipated. Observers are eager to see whether European capital will bridge the gap and if Wall Street institutions will further solidify their presence in the sector.
