The move brings ETH staking access directly into a traditional brokerage environment, narrowing the gap between conventional investment accounts and on-chain yield.

TLDR KEY POINTS

Interactive Brokers has launched ETH staking for eligible clients.

Zero Hash is the named service provider powering the staking infrastructure.

Access is restricted to eligible clients; specific conditions require direct confirmation with the platform.

Interactive Brokers adds ETH staking through Zero Hash

The brokerage confirmed the launch of ETH staking, positioning Zero Hash as the underlying provider. Per CryptoSlate reporting, Interactive Brokers is entering the Ethereum staking market as institutional demand for on-chain yield continues to build.
Zero Hash, a crypto infrastructure firm, handles the staking layer for the product. Interactive Brokers serves as the client-facing interface, meaning eligible account holders interact with the offering through their existing brokerage relationship rather than through a separate crypto platform.
Eligibility and terms to verify

Availability is limited to eligible clients. The announcement does not publicly specify which account types, jurisdictions, or minimum balances qualify. Before participating, readers should confirm directly with Interactive Brokers the applicable eligibility criteria, reward rates, fee structure, lockup periods, withdrawal conditions, tax treatment, and associated risks.
Staking through a brokerage wrapper introduces platform-layer considerations that differ from direct on-chain staking, including counterparty reliance and the terms governing the custodial or sub-custodial relationship with Zero Hash. Similar institutional-grade arrangements have been explored by other financial players, as seen with deals like the Citadel Securities and BNY tokenized U.S. Treasury transaction, where traditional finance firms are increasingly layering crypto infrastructure into conventional product stacks.

What the launch means for brokerage clients

Potential client impact

For eligible Interactive Brokers clients, the offering could reduce the friction of accessing ETH staking rewards without requiring a separate self-custody wallet or dedicated crypto exchange account. Consolidating staking within an existing brokerage account may simplify tax reporting and portfolio management for some users.

Key risks remain

Convenience does not eliminate staking risk. Validators face slashing penalties on the Ethereum network, and staked ETH is subject to unbonding delays. Additionally, brokerage-intermediated staking carries platform risk, regulatory uncertainty, and market exposure to ETH price volatility, none of which are removed by the brokerage wrapper.
