Sometimes the right move is a break. Responsible gambling tools exist for exactly that moment, from a short cooling-off period to a self-exclusion that lasts months or years.
At licensed casinos in many countries, those tools connect to national registers that block a player across every licensed site at once. Self-exclusion at crypto casinos usually works differently: it happens operator by operator, and a new wallet can open a new door.
Below: what each tool does, why crypto makes exclusion harder, the outside tools that help, and how one crypto casino handles a request.

Three Tools With Three Jobs

Each tool suits a different need, and they work most effectively in combination.
Tool
What it does
Typical length
Early reversal
Deposit limit
Caps how much you can add over a day, week or month
Permanent until you change it
Increases usually take effect only after a delay
Cooling-off
Pauses your account for a short spell
24 hours to a few weeks
Usually not until the period ends
Self-exclusion
Closes access to gambling for a longer period
Six months to five years or more
Generally not reversible until it expires

Cooling-off periods suit a moment of frustration or a run of losses. Self-exclusion suits a deeper concern that gambling has started to cause harm, and it should be treated as a firm commitment, not a short pause. Simple session limits on time and stakes help long before either step becomes necessary.

Why Self-Exclusion Is Harder With Crypto

Crypto casinos remove several of the barriers that make exclusion effective elsewhere.

One operator at a time: national registers such as GAMSTOP in the UK, CRUKS in the Netherlands and OASIS in Germany cover licensed operators in those countries, not offshore crypto sites

Multiple wallets: a player excluded on one address can create another in minutes

Bank blocks stop short: card and bank gambling blocks do not catch crypto sent from a self-custody wallet

Site access may remain: some platforms can stop play on an account while the website itself stays reachable

These gaps do not make self-exclusion pointless. They mean it works most effectively alongside tools that act outside the casino.

Tools That Work Outside the Casino

Several measures close the holes that operator-level exclusion leaves open.

Site blockers: apps such as Gamban and BetBlocker stop access to gambling sites across a phone or computer

National registers: where you live in a country with one, register there as well, since it covers every licensed local operator

Bank blocks: many banks let customers block gambling transactions, which also limits card purchases of crypto at some exchanges

Someone you trust: tell a friend or family member about your plan for added accountability

Support services: GamCare, Gambling Therapy and Gamblers Anonymous offer free help and peer support

Registers and licence rules differ widely between countries, as an overview of crypto site regulation explains.

Self-Exclusion on Dexsport

Dexsport handles Dexsport self-exclusion through its support team or by email, in three steps.

Write from the registered address: send the request from the email linked to your account to info@dexsport.io, or contact the support team

State the request clearly: include the words "self-exclusion" and the duration you want

Wait for confirmation: Dexsport blocks the account within 12 hours of the request

Because you choose the duration, a short exclusion can serve as a cooling-off period, while a longer one works as full self-exclusion.
The block covers play on the account, but Dexsport states that it cannot fully restrict access to the website itself, and points to its decentralised design. Site blockers therefore add a useful layer alongside any request. The platform's responsible play policy also names GamCare, Gambling Therapy and Gamblers Anonymous as sources of support.

Conclusion

Deposit limits, cooling-off periods and self-exclusion each do a separate job, from a cap on spend to a block that lasts months or years. At crypto casinos, exclusion usually works operator by operator, outside national registers, and new wallets make it easier to get around.
Site blockers, bank blocks, national registers, and the people you trust close many of those holes.
At Dexsport, a request from your registered email to info@dexsport.io, with the words self-exclusion and a duration, blocks play within 12 hours. Check local law and play only if you are of legal age, since KYC or AML checks may apply. Responsible gambling means you reach out for help early.
