Pi Network news today centers on a new tie-up with Open Standard, the group behind the OUSD stablecoin. Pi announced the deal on Sept. 30, the same day $OUSD went live. The token reacted little. PI changed hands near $0.0901, down 1.4% on the day.

The plan is still early. Pi will explore rewards for Pioneers and wider stablecoin use. It is not a finished product, and key technical details are still to come.

Pi Network OUSD Partnership: What Open Standard Brings to Pioneers

Pi announced the Open Standard partnership on Sept. 30, 2026. Open Standard runs OUSD, a stablecoin built as shared infrastructure for payments and settlements. Partners split most reserve earnings after a small fee. Businesses can mint or redeem 1:1 with the dollar at no cost, per Open Standard. Here is what $OUSD offers at launch:

Networks:Ethereum, Solana, Base and Tempo

Issuer:Bridge, a Stripe company

Reserves held at: BlackRock, Lead Bank and BNY

Partners: more than 200, including Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, Coinbase and Google

Liquidity:over $1 billion from founding partners

Oracle data:provided by Chainlink

A stable dollar asset helps with everyday pricing, where a volatile crypto token can get in the way. Pi also brings a large base of identity-verified users, which suits payment partners.
The deal points to rewards programs for Pioneers and wider use across payments, apps and commerce. Third-party project OpenPay had already tested Pi-to-OUSD conversion flows for payments and cashback.

Pi OUSD Rewards: What Is Known, What Is Missing and What to Expect

$OUSD rewards are the biggest open question in Pi Network news right now. Pi said it will explore OUSD's incentive model for rewards programs aimed at Pioneers. That is all that has been confirmed.
The $OUSD design offers some clues. Open Standard shares most reserve earnings with partners after a small management fee. It also ties partner rewards to supply and activity. For Pi, that could point to incentives linked to real use in payments and apps. That is an inference, not an announcement.
Outside projects point the same way. OpenPay had already built Pi-to-OUSD conversion flows for payments and cashback. Pioneers are upbeat, and talk of OUSD rewards has sparked fresh interest. Frustration over KYC and migration delays has not gone away, though.
Several key points remain unanswered:

Eligibility: who qualifies, and whether KYC status matters

Payout asset: whether rewards come in OUSD, PI or both

Scale and timing: the size, start date and length of any program

Technical path: how OUSD would reach Pi wallets and apps

Until the core team shares those details, any reward figure is guesswork.

Pi Network Price Today: Price, Market Cap and Why PI Down

Traders did not rush in on the headline. Pi Network news today also showed a muted market reaction. Here are the latest figures from CoinMarketCap:

Pi coin price: $0.09018 (-1.4% in 24 hours)

Market cap: $1.01B (-1.32%), rank #66

24h volume: $7.35M (+19.64%)

Circulating supply: 11.24B PI

Max supply: 100B PI

Fully diluted value: $9.06B

So why is Pi down today? The dip is small, at 1.1%. Volume rose 19.64%, which points to more activity. Market commentary also notes attempts to push toward the $0.10 area. The announcement worked as a legitimacy signal, not an instant price trigger.
One number needs care. Only 11.24% of the 100B max supply circulates. The $9.06B fully diluted value is about nine times the market cap. Wider supply can change the picture over time.

Pi Network Ecosystem in 2026: Protocol 28, KYC, and DEX Progress

The tech side of Pi Network news is moving too. Protocol 27 is complete on Mainnet, and Protocol 28 is now on Testnet. Mainnet activation is set for Oct. 16, 2026. Node operators must upgrade by Oct. 13, per thePi node page.
The Pi v28 upgrade improves how the network handles delayed transaction data. It also makes smart-contract upgrades and data changes safer for developers.
Identity checks and Mainnet migration have improved as well. The core team says hundreds of thousands of Pioneers stuck in edge cases are now unblocked. Still, frustration over KYC and wallet migration backlogs remains, and it delays real use.
Other work continues on developer tools such as SoloHost and App Studio, smart contracts and possible DEX and AMM features. Gaming partnerships and Pi Network Ventures investments also aim at practical use. These Pi Network upgrades in 2026 form the base that any OUSD rewards plan would need.

What Comes Next for Pi After the OUSD Announcement: Risks, Limits?

The deal uses the word "explore." That signals an early stage, and results depend on follow-through. Open Standard is young too. The group debuted on June 30, and OUSD only went live on Sept. 30.
Pi Network news from here depends on three items: details of the rewards program, a clear technical path for OUSD, and a smooth Protocol 28 rollout.
The next dates are firm. Oct. 13 is the node upgrade deadline, and Oct. 16 is the Mainnet date. A rewards plan with real numbers would show whether this deal is substance or headline.
