Ethereum (<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/ethereum/">ETH</a>) can set a record high before the end of the year, BitMine chairman Tom Lee said, a rise of about 84% from where it traded at the time of writing.
Asked whether Ethereum could reach all-time highs this year, Lee <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vP5SVWRoj0Q">told</a> Coinage host Zack Guzman in an interview published Wednesday: "Absolutely."
"I think $3,000 in the near term makes a lot of sense," Lee said, "and then well above $5,000."
<h2 id="header-1">Why Is Tom Lee So Bullish on Ethereum?</h2>
Lee's case rests on how long the price has gone nowhere. Ethereum has been rangebound for five years, he said, while the rally from $1,500 to $2,800 was “met with almost complete silence."
He said he is hearing about large players sitting on substantial losses after positioning bearishly into that move, and that many had expected final lows in early October to fit the four-year cycle.
Ethereum's record high is $4,954, set on Aug. 24, 2025, while it traded at $2,693 at the time of writing, according to CoinMarketCap data.<img src="https://academy-public.coinmarketcap.com/optimized-uploads/da26e14595984d8fa86704bb1a868807.png">

Further out, Lee floated a 10-to-12x move above prior highs of about $5,000 in a couple of years, which he said "would take us to $60,000." He also said Ethereum's story is "probably evolving" to that of a <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://coinmarketcap.com/academy/glossary/store-of-value">store of value</a>, pointing to Robinhood's decision to build its chain on it.
BitMine, of which Lee is chairman, is <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://coinmarketcap.com/academy/article/bitmine-adds-27562-eth-to-5-98-million-as-tom-lee-says-crypto-bull-market-began">close to its goal of holding 5% of all ETH</a>, a target he said the company expected to take five years but has nearly reached in just 1.2. He declined to give a new target when asked, saying only that people should "stay tuned."
