ZetaChain's governance community voted to approve Proposal 68, "Migrate ZETA to Solana," with the voting period closing on September 20, 2026. The approved plan authorizes a 1:1 conversion of native ZETA into a Solana SPL token under the same ticker and with no change to total supply, marking a pivotal strategic shift for the cross-chain network.

TLDR Keypoints

ZetaChain Proposal 68 passed on September 20, 2026, formally approving a plan to migrate ZETA to Solana as an SPL token.

ZetaChain's blockchain is slated for retirement under the plan, though the network is not halted and no balances have changed yet.

A second governance proposal must still be passed to set the snapshot height, halt date, claim process, and exchange participation before anything moves.

What the ZetaChain Vote Approved

The on-chain vote ran for 72 hours under a 40% quorum requirement and a greater-than-50% yes threshold, with a 1,000 ZETA deposit. The result was decisive: 263.65 million ZETA voted yes, against 744,658 ZETA no and 752,299 ZETA abstain, with zero no-with-veto votes recorded.

Proposal 68 approves a mandate, not an execution. The ZetaChain blockchain is not halted, no snapshot has been taken, and no holder balances have been touched. The proposal text explicitly reserves snapshot height, halt timing, the claim mechanism, and holder protections for a separate follow-up governance vote after exchange confirmations are secured.
The strategic rationale centers on Anuma, ZetaChain's private AI product. ZetaChain's blog notes that Anuma has surpassed 300,000 users since February and has processed more than 1 million requests across 35 models. Moving ZETA to Solana is framed as positioning Anuma within a higher-throughput, larger-liquidity ecosystem. The broader Solana market context is relevant here: Solana funds have been leading crypto investment product inflows in recent weeks, and Solana recently hit a 7-month high above $110 with open interest jumping 18%.

Markets reacted sharply to the news. ZETA was up +65.35% over 24 hours in the post-vote window, trading at $0.0636 with a market cap near $102.7 million and 24-hour volume of approximately $150.1 million.
How the ZETA Move to Solana Could Affect Holders and Users

The approved proposal confirms the migration direction but leaves core mechanics unresolved. No conversion window, exchange support list, or deadline has been set. Holders cannot take any action yet; the next step is a second ZetaChain governance vote that must specify the exact snapshot block, the chain halt sequence, the claim portal, and the eligibility parameters.

Until that second proposal passes and exchanges confirm support, the ZetaChain network continues operating normally. CryptoSlate independently confirmed that the network and token do not move immediately following Proposal 68. Token holders with ZETA on centralized exchanges should watch for official announcements from their platforms, as exchange operational support is a prerequisite to the execution proposal. With October token unlocks already set to impact several blockchain projects, the timing of any ZetaChain execution proposal could intersect with broader market liquidity shifts.

The crypto Fear & Greed Index sat at 70 (Greed) at the time of the vote, providing a constructive backdrop for the market reaction. What to watch next: the publication of a follow-up governance proposal on ZetaHub with specific migration parameters, and exchange-by-exchange confirmation of SPL token support. Until those details are on-chain, the approved plan remains a mandate without a mechanism.
