According to data from ZetaChain’s governance platform, Proposal 68 secured approval on Sunday with an overwhelming 99.4% of votes cast in favor. The vote attracted 58% participation from eligible token holders, comfortably surpassing the minimum 40% quorum requirement.
This decision represents a dramatic strategic shift for a project that secured $27 million in funding during 2023 to develop cross-chain interoperability solutions.
<h2 id="migration-plan-for-zeta-token-to-solana">Migration Plan for ZETA Token to Solana</h2>
The approved framework calls for transforming ZETA into a native token on Solana’s network using the SPL token standard.
Current ZETA holders will receive equivalent tokens on Solana through a direct 1:1 exchange mechanism. Both the token ticker symbol and maximum supply will remain identical to current specifications.
All established token vesting arrangements will transfer to the new chain without modification to their original conditions.
ZETA tokens currently circulating on Ethereum and BNB Chain fall outside the parameters of this governance decision. The vote primarily addresses native ZETA holdings and the operational status of the ZetaChain Layer 1 network.
It’s important to note that the passage of this proposal doesn’t trigger an immediate shutdown or token migration.
A subsequent governance vote will establish the specific block height for recording final balances, designate the ultimate shutdown block, and provide detailed procedures for users to claim their tokens on Solana.
ZetaChain representatives indicated this follow-up vote won’t proceed until major cryptocurrency exchanges have confirmed their technical approach to facilitating the token conversion.
Staking functionality will remain operational throughout the interim period until the shutdown procedures receive final approval. The team has yet to announce definitive plans for how staking mechanisms or reward distributions might function following the Solana migration.
<h2 id="strategic-pivot-toward-anuma-ai-platform">Strategic Pivot Toward Anuma AI Platform</h2>
ZetaChain leadership concluded that operating an independent Layer 1 blockchain no longer aligns with the project’s core development roadmap.
The organization is consolidating efforts around Anuma, a privacy-centric multi-model artificial intelligence platform that debuted in February.
According to ZetaChain, Anuma has onboarded more than 300,000 users and handled in excess of one million AI requests spanning 35 different language models.
The platform features an encrypted memory architecture that maintains continuity across various AI model interactions.
ZETA tokens currently serve a functional purpose within the Anuma ecosystem. Users can stake tokens to obtain service credits applicable to AI-powered features.
The project additionally referenced the substantial operational demands of maintaining a Cosmos SDK-based blockchain among its motivations for the platform change.
According to the proposal documentation, sustaining an independent network necessitates continuous coordination among validators for implementing software upgrades and deploying critical security updates.
Following the migration, Solana’s existing validator infrastructure will assume responsibility for securing native ZETA tokens, replacing ZetaChain’s current independent validator network.
ZetaChain pointed to Solana’s high-speed transaction processing, minimal fee structure, robust liquidity environment, and expanding AI agent infrastructure as primary factors driving the migration decision.
For the immediate term, ZetaChain’s Layer 1 network, staking infrastructure, and native token balances remain fully operational as development teams prepare the secondary proposal that will establish definitive migration timelines and shutdown procedures.
