NES recovery after the exploit depends heavily on where holders kept their tokens. Kraken and Binance set different rules, so a wallet's location, and the date a holder acquired NES, can decide whether those tokens qualify for a 1:1 swap or fall outside recovery entirely.
NES is the native token of Nesa, an artificial intelligence network. Nesa describes NES as the asset used for network security, paying model developers and miners, and covering inference queries, according to its official website. For related coverage, see Allbridge Core Exploit: $1.65M Stolen.
After the exploit, exchanges moved to protect and migrate NES holdings. But recovery is not automatic or identical everywhere. The rules differ by platform, by blockchain network, and by when tokens were held.
Why where holders kept NES matters for recovery

The single biggest factor in recovery is custody. That means whether NES sat on Kraken, on Binance, or in a self-managed wallet. For related coverage, see PayPal Platform Supports MoonPay’s PYUSD-Backed Tokens.
Kraken took a network-specific approach. It said NES would migrate 1:1 to a new contract on Ethereum, according to its incident status page. A contract is the on-chain program that defines the token.

Kraken stated that NES would migrate 1:1 to a new Ethereum contract. Only Ethereum NES would be supported going forward; NES funding on BNB would remain disabled. Kraken published the new Ethereum NES contract as 0x863F08A3d3B14fbD3D42fFD061D0e290F7dBC538. This reflects what Kraken published; the contract was not independently audited or checked on an explorer in this research.
The network choice matters. Kraken stated that NES funding on BNB Chain would stay disabled, and only NES on Ethereum would be supported going forward. So the same token on the wrong network gets different treatment.
Key Takeaways

Custody decides the path. Kraken supports a 1:1 Ethereum migration, while BNB Chain NES funding stays disabled.

Timing sets eligibility. Binance ties recovery to holding dates and a snapshot, according to reporting from CryptoSlate.

Next step: verify your platform. Check the official notice for your specific exchange or wallet before moving any tokens.

Which NES holdings qualify for recovery

On Kraken, the recovery is tied to the network, not a purchase date. Kraken scheduled Ethereum NES deposits and withdrawals to resume on September 10, 2026 at 14:00 UTC, and marked the incident resolved at 14:12 UTC that day, its status page shows.
Kraken first posted its NES funding investigation on August 24, 2026 at 14:56 UTC. An August 31 update said withdrawals were paused while all other funding methods worked normally.
Binance applied stricter eligibility based on timing. NES had to be held before August 24, 2026 at 14:51 UTC, and an eligible portion still held at a September 5, 2026 04:00 UTC snapshot, for that portion to qualify for a 1:1 swap, CryptoSlate reported. These are reported terms, not independently authenticated Binance terms.
NES bought after that August 24 cutoff is excluded from the 1:1 swap, CryptoSlate reported. Eligible net purchases receive separate refund treatment, with details to be emailed within seven business days.
Binance scheduled NES trading to reopen September 10, 2026 at 08:00 UTC, according to the same report, which noted the announcement did not disclose the complete refund formula. This kind of split-eligibility outcome echoes past incidents, such as the AFX bridge exploit that drained USDC, where recovery depended on specific conditions rather than blanket reimbursement.
One important distinction: eligibility is not the same as completed compensation. Neither the Kraken notice nor the reported Binance terms establish that every affected holder will be made whole. Claims of universal recovery come only from unconfirmed reports.

What NES holders should verify before taking action

Start with your custody situation. If you held NES on Kraken, the Ethereum migration is handled by the exchange, and funding reopened on the schedule above. Confirm your balance appears on the Ethereum contract, not BNB Chain.
If you held NES on Binance, check whether your tokens meet the reported holding date and snapshot conditions. Watch for the refund email described in the reporting, since the full formula was not published.
Self-custody holders face the least clear path. This research verified no universal self-custody migration route across Nesa's official channels. The Nesa homepage contained no incident-specific instructions, though not every official channel was reviewed. Do not connect wallets or move tokens based on unverified instructions.
The market backdrop offers little comfort or alarm. NES traded around $0.148 with a roughly 2.6% 24-hour change and a market capitalization near $20.9 million as of September 11, 2026. That snapshot came after the incident and does not measure losses or recovery value.
Broader sentiment sat at 56, or "Greed," on the crypto Fear & Greed Index. That is a market-wide gauge, not a measure of how NES holders feel about recovery.
Open questions remain. The exact refund amounts, individual account eligibility, and any self-custody route are still unverified. As with a stablecoin depeg and its recovery path, the practical rule is simple: confirm your token's network and platform, then follow only official, dated instructions before acting.
