Crypto analyst Dark Defender has asserted that XRP does not require the CLARITY Act to experience a significant price movement. In a recent post, he emphasized that the asset’s technical structure already points to a potential rally, regardless of legislative developments.

XRP’s potential decoupled from US legislation

Dark Defender, known for his technical analysis within the XRP community, indicated that XRP’s price behavior is not contingent on the outcome of the CLARITY Act. He said the market is poised for a new wave pattern, referencing historical technical trends in the asset’s price chart that have preceded substantial rallies in the past.

He pointed out that XRP is currently mirroring the Exponential Moving Average (EMA) Jumping Pattern observed in both 2014 and 2017. On those occasions, similar patterns marked the beginning of strong surges in XRP’s price.

Drawing from these past events, Dark Defender suggested that regardless of whether the CLARITY Act is enacted, XRP could be on the verge of a significant uptrend. His long-term analysis, which extends back to 2013, reinforces this perspective.

XRP is not waiting for the CLARITY Act. The wave pattern will emerge with or without it.

The community reacts to the analyst’s forecast

Dark Defender’s statement quickly sparked discussion among XRP supporters and critics alike. Some community members agreed, recalling previous instances when price advances took place before regulatory clarity. Others pointed to the global nature of XRP’s adoption, emphasizing that growth is not solely dependent on US policy, and highlighted markets such as BRICS countries as contributing sources of demand.

One user cited XRP’s surge of 280% in November 2024, claiming that another 150% rise would set a fresh all-time high for the asset. However, some disagreed, arguing that XRP’s performance has historically followed US regulatory narratives and that bullish momentum still relies on favorable legislative news.

Technical levels and legislative timeline

According to Dark Defender, the current technical setup resembles the EMA Jumping Pattern documented ahead of XRP’s previous 500% rally in 2024. His projected targets based on Fibonacci extensions identify $18.22, $36.77, $74.39, and $333.11, with $333 positioned as a long-term exit target.

On the legislative side, the CLARITY Act faces a compressed timeline. The Senate is scheduled to hold a procedural vote on September 15. The House will then leave Washington by September 17, not returning until mid-November. Senator Cynthia Lummis has cautioned that failure to act within this short window could delay digital asset regulation to at least 2030.

Despite ongoing legislative uncertainty, Dark Defender maintains that XRP’s technical wave pattern is already underway and expects the asset’s significant move to occur independently of the law’s fate.
