Harmony, the Layer 1 network behind the ONE token, is reportedly preparing to fully sunset its blockchain and migrate its token to Ethereum in support of an AI video initiative, according to unconfirmed reports. The proposed Harmony Ethereum token migration would move the project's community off its own consensus layer and onto Ethereum's settlement layer, though no official proposal, approval, or migration mechanics have been independently verified.

Harmony is reported to be planning a full sunset of its Layer 1 network.

A token migration of ONE to Ethereum has been proposed, not confirmed or completed.

The proposal is reportedly tied to an AI video initiative.

Harmony plans Layer 1 sunset and proposes Ethereum token migration

The reported plan describes Harmony winding down its independent Layer 1 chain, the sharded proof-of-stake network that has run ONE since launch. For a decentralized network, sunsetting the base layer means retiring validator infrastructure and the consensus that secures on-chain state, shifting economic activity to another settlement environment.
Planned full Layer 1 sunset

The idea of ending Harmony's chain is not new to its community. A forum topic titled "Voluntary winding down" was opened on February 24, 2024 in the Ideas category by a user named UnArge4, asking readers what they thought about winding down the chain. That thread is a community suggestion, not an official announcement, and it predates the current reports by more than two years.
More recently, Harmony's own newsletter has signaled a technical orientation toward Ethereum. The first entry in its RSS feed, an April 2026 update published May 5, 2026, described Ethereum-compatibility hard-fork preparation and a production hedging strategy. That older update establishes engineering direction, not a September 2026 shutdown decision.
Proposed token migration to Ethereum

The migration should be understood as proposed rather than executed. The reported details, per a single source that could not be independently read, do not include a confirmed token identity, conversion ratio, snapshot date, claim window, or Ethereum contract address. Moving ONE to Ethereum would require a smart contract deployment on the destination chain and defined eligibility rules for holders, none of which have been verified.

ONE traded at roughly $0.00073787 at the time of the research snapshot, with a market capitalization near $11 million. This is market context only and does not reflect any confirmed announcement-driven price action.

Over the prior 24 hours, ONE moved about -2.27%, a change with no established causal connection to the reports. Broader market conditions leaned bullish, with the crypto Fear & Greed Index at 71, classified as Greed, on September 7, 2026, a broad sentiment gauge rather than a Harmony-specific reading.

The AI video initiative behind the proposed transition

The reports connect the proposed Ethereum migration to an AI video initiative. That is the extent of what the available context establishes about the project's purpose.

The stated AI video connection

Beyond the label "AI video initiative," the supplied material does not describe the product, the token's role within it, funding, partners, or launch timing. It is not established why Ethereum would be the chosen settlement layer for such an initiative, nor what on-chain function ONE holders would retain. AI video generation is compute-intensive work typically run on GPU clusters, and how any of that would map to on-chain infrastructure is not detailed in the reports.

Details absent from the supplied context

Several load-bearing facts are not established by the available material: the approval status of the sunset and migration, the timing and schedule, the migration mechanics, and the specific function of the AI video initiative. The historical forum thread also includes a user reporting assets frozen on Harmony's Aave deployment, but their claim and any migration treatment of staked or frozen ONE are unverified.

Readers weighing what a Layer 1 sunset means for token holders can compare it with other disputed token transitions, such as the Ocean Protocol and Fetch.ai token dispute, and with the shifting U.S. rules for digital assets under the CLARITY Act's Senate timeline. Until Harmony publishes an official proposal with dates, contracts, and eligibility rules, the reported migration remains an unconfirmed plan rather than an executed one.
