Telegram founder Pavel Durov just dropped a massive bomb on the crypto world. The layer-1 blockchain network is changing the name of its native token from $TON to $GRAM.

The team wants to move past its old legal battles with the US SEC. By using the original name, Telegram is showing everyone that it is fully committed to this crypto project.
The entire brand transition will take about three weeks to finish. During this time, crypto wallets, apps, and exchanges will update their software to show the new name. This update connects the token directly to Telegram's massive user base of 950 million people.

Do Token Holders Need To Do a Manual Token Swap?

It is important to know that this is a TON rebrand no token swap event. If you hold these tokens, you do not need to trade them for new ones. Your existing balances will simply update to the new GRAM ticker automatically once exchanges finish their updates.
The TON Blockchain network will keep its original name, The Open Network. Only the native token itself is changing what it is called. No technical changes will affect your staking, balances, or decentralized finance activities.

Key Structural Challenges For The Telegram Crypto Network

Even with the huge GRAM pump, the project still faces a few long-term hurdles. Telegram is taking more control of the network, which worries some crypto purists who love decentralization.
The network also faces regular selling pressure from its supply schedule. About 36.59 million tokens worth around $75 million unlock every single month. The market needs to find new buyers constantly to keep the price from falling. The future of the asset depends heavily on whether Pavel Durov reveals more exciting roadmap steps soon.

Toncoin GRAM Price Prediction

Right now, the token is outperforming almost every other major digital asset. This growth is happening because Telegram recently became the main validator for the network. They also upgraded the system to make transactions faster and cheaper. Some money is also moving out of other altcoins and into this network.

The Bullish Breakout: Holding the $2.03 support level gives buyers a launchpad to retest the recent $2.26 high. Breaking past this resistance could push the price toward $2.50.

The Neutral Consolidation: As initial TON rebrands to GRAM hype cools, the price will likely move sideways between $2.03 and $2.15. This allows the market to absorb the volume spike over the three-week transition.

The Bearish Pullback:A failure to hold the $2.03 floor will trigger profit-taking and a deeper slide. Expect a rapid drop down into the $1.97 to $1.88 demand zone.

Relying entirely on a single messaging app for adoption is a double-edged sword. If Telegram faces regulatory crackdowns or store bans in major global markets, the entire ecosystem's distribution pipeline could choke instantly.
Diversifying the user base away from a single application remains a massive hurdle. However, the excitement and recent rally can’t be denied completely that the platform is getting some serious attention in a positive way.
