@SolvProtocol has announced it is deprecating its @LayerZero_Core bridges and migrating to @Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), citing security architecture as the deciding factor. The move puts $LINK-powered infrastructure at the center of one of DeFi's largest bridge migrations to date.

A $700 Million Migration

The move involves more than $700 million in tokenized Bitcoin assets, with LayerZero bridge support being dropped across Corn, Berachain, Rootstock, and TAC. After reviewing its existing bridging infrastructure, Solv concluded that CCIP offered the strongest available security guarantees, and committed to providing users with secure cross-chain transfers going forward.
The decision comes in the wake of broader industry concerns about LayerZero's infrastructure. Solv's move follows Kelp DAO's shift from LayerZero to Chainlink after an April exploit drained 116,500 rsETH, worth roughly $292 million, from its LayerZero-powered bridge.LayerZero said Kelp used a single-verifier configuration despite recommendations to adopt a multi-DVN model, while Kelp says LayerZero personnel reviewed and approved the configuration it later blamed for the attack.
Chainlink's chief business officer pointed to a clear pattern forming across the sector. Johann Eid told CoinDesk there is "a clear and accelerating trend" where protocols like Solv are migrating to Chainlink, and that "the industry's largest protocols are realizing they can no longer rely on cross-chain and oracle infrastructure that push liability onto users."

Why CCIP Stands Out on Security

The architectural difference between CCIP and conventional bridges is significant. Chainlink CCIP operates on a fundamentally different model: every transaction requires consensus from 16 independent node operators rather than a single verifier. This multi-party validation, combined with separate risk-management networks and distinct codebases for core components, is designed to prevent the kind of single-point compromise that enabled the April attack.
Solv already had an existing relationship with Chainlink, having worked together to offer real-time collateral verification for SolvBTC pricing. The migration to CCIP extends that partnership into cross-chain infrastructure, with Solv committing to route all future cross-chain transfers through the $LINK-secured protocol.
The shift reflects a broader reassessment of bridge security across DeFi. The decision carries wider implications for DeFi. Cross-chain activity continues to expand rapidly, but high-profile incidents have underscored the need for infrastructure that balances speed, cost, and verifiable security.
