SBI Group, one of Japan’s largest financial conglomerates, has made its position on XRP’s future valuation clear. The company confirmed in official financial disclosures that it expects “significant gains” from its 9% stake in Ripple once the company pursues an IPO or an equivalent liquidity event.
Crypto researcher SMQKE (@SMQKEDQG) shared the slides on X, highlighting what many in the XRP community have long anticipated: a formal valuation event could unlock substantial upside for XRP.

SBI’s Disclosure About Ripple and XRP

SBI Group holds a 9% stake in Ripple Labs Inc. The company’s disclosures state that Ripple’s XRP held in escrow “will not be reflected in the company’s valuation until a definitive price is established, such as through an IPO or other means.” SBI is not speculating, but documenting an expected financial outcome tied to a specific corporate event.
SBI’s PE Investment Business segment also posted a strong performance in Q1 FY2025, swinging from a loss the prior year to a significant profit. SBI credited improved valuations in companies such as Circle Internet Group and eToro Group for this performance.

Ripple Payments currently serves more than 100 financial institutions across over 55 countries. SBI Remit launched Japan’s first international money transfer service using XRP back in 2021. These are not projections. They are active, operational partnerships that have built XRP’s utility across real financial infrastructure.
Ripple has also acquired Hidden Road, a major prime broker. The company now uses RLUSD, its USD-backed stablecoin issued under a trust license from NYDFS, as collateral there. SBI VC Trade is already in discussions about handling RLUSD, potentially expanding the XRP ecosystem beyond payments.
SBI’s own disclosures include a price chart for XRP denominated in JPY. The token traded at 93 JPY in mid-2024. By July 2025, it reached 479 JPY. That is a gain of more than 4x in under a year.

SBI’s Commitment to XRP Goes Beyond Investment

SBI has not been a passive stakeholder. The group co-established SBI Ripple Asia, integrated XRP into remittance services, and now gives shareholders the option to receive dividends in XRP. Every layer of SBI’s relationship with Ripple reflects long-term conviction.
The IPO remains the key unlock. Once a definitive valuation is established, SBI expects the gains from its Ripple stake to become fully visible. That moment, whenever it arrives, carries direct consequences for XRP’s price.
