I noticed that crypto was taking not so much my money as my attention. I was not always trading actively, but the market was constantly hanging somewhere in the background: check the price, open the news, look at X, go back to the chart again. On average, I was opening the exchange 5–6 times a day, and each of those “quick checks” stretched into 6–8 minutes. In the end, it was eating up around 18–20 hours a month.At the same time, the plan itself was simple: put 400 USDT into crypto every month and gradually add to BTC and ETH. But manually, it kept falling apart. Over four months, I should have invested 1,600 USDT, but in reality I was putting in around 240–280 USDT a month on average. If you break it down dryly, at a once-a-week frequency I should have had 16 regular buys over four months, but in practice it came out to 9–10. The rest I just postponed or skipped.<h3 id="strong-why-and-how-i-started-looking-at-automation-strong">Why And How I Started Looking at Automation</h3>What sobered me up even more was the contrast with how big money behaves. According to market data from early March, BlackRock, through its spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs,<a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow"> accumulated</a> over $650 million in just two sessions. The point is not the scale, but the approach: while small retail investors run around chasing the “perfect entry point,” big players often just act more systematically.First, I looked at Coinbase<a href="https://www.coinbase.com/blog/easier-recurring-buys-and-sells-on-coinbase" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow"> Recurring Buy</a>. What put me off was one small detail that turned out not to be so small for me: when you set up a recurring purchase, Coinbase immediately also executes a one-time purchase for the same amount. I do not like it when a service starts instead of me.Then there was Kraken<a href="https://support.kraken.com/ru/articles/recurring-orders" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow"> Recurring Orders</a>. Basically, everything is fine there: you can buy on a schedule and then edit, pause, or cancel the plan. But recurring orders on Kraken do not work in Kraken Pro, and I did not want to live between two different platform modes.I also tested Binance<a href="https://www.binance.com/en/auto-invest" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow"> Auto-Invest</a>. The product is broad there, but that is exactly what did not grab me: separate pricing logic, separate conditions, premium service, a tie-in to a wider ecosystem. Binance openly says that Auto-Invest prices may differ from Spot prices. That is fine for some people, but I wanted the most direct scenario possible: top up the balance, set the plan, check in sometimes - and that is it.<h3 id="strong-the-moment-i-finally-settled-down-strong">The Moment I Finally Settled Down</h3>I came to WhiteBIT’s<a href="https://whitebit.com/auto-buy/overview" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow"> Auto-Invest</a> not because of a pretty promise, but by cutting away the extra stuff. For me, the logic here turned out to be the most straightforward: set the amount, set the purchase frequency, and keep everything on Trade Balance without unnecessary switching between modes. Plus, the plan could be edited properly if I wanted to change something along the way.At the start, I had a total crypto portfolio of around 2,900 USDT. Of that, about 1,050 USDT was sitting in USDT, another 1,300 USDT was already in BTC and ETH, and the rest was in smaller positions that I did not touch. For Auto-Invest itself, I set aside 400 USDT separately to start, and then simply topped up the balance with another 400 USDT every month.The setup was simple: 250 USDT into BTC and 150 USDT into ETH per month, split into weekly purchases. Doing it manually, it would most likely have turned out the same as always - around 1,000–1,100 USDT - because I kept postponing purchases and waiting for a “better entry.”After launching Auto-Invest, the 1,600 USDT plan was completed in full. Out of 16 planned purchases, all 16 went through. Not because I suddenly became more disciplined, but because I removed the daily decision from the process - the same decision that kept breaking the plan.The difference in time was also very real. Before that, the market was eating up around 18–20 hours a month. After launching Auto-Invest, that dropped to 3–4 hours: check the balance, see that everything is working, occasionally adjust something. Over four months, that added up to roughly 56–68 hours saved.<h3 id="strong-why-this-approach-makes-sense-at-all-strong">Why This Approach Makes Sense at All</h3>What convinced me was the logic of DCA itself: regular purchases do not give you the perfect entry, but they remove the main trap - the endless attempt to guess the “right moment.” It is telling that, according to one calculation cited by Cointelegraph, a model of $100 weekly over the last five years delivered $42,508 for Bitcoin versus $37,470 in the S&amp;P 500. But it did remove one of the dumbest things in this whole story - the daily manual messing around with a purchase I was going to make for the long term anyway. In my case, WhiteBIT simply turned out to be the tool that made me stop thinking about the strategy and start actually following it.
