The&nbsp;<a href="https://blog.chain.link/chainlink-24-5-us-equities-streams/" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">upgrade</a> enables pricing during pre-market, post-market, and overnight sessions, addressing a long-standing limitation in onchain real-world asset (RWA) trading.
Until now, most decentralized platforms could only access U.S. stock prices during regular trading hours. Outside that window, developers either paused trading or relied on stale prices, increasing risk. Chainlink’s new data streams aim to remove that gap by offering continuous, high-quality market data five days a week.
<h2 id="span-span-strong-why-have-u-s-equities-been-hard-to-trade-onchain-strong-span-span">Why Have U.S. Equities Been Hard To Trade Onchain?</h2>
U.S. equities represent one of the largest asset classes in the world, valued at roughly $80 trillion. Despite this scale, stocks remain underrepresented in onchain markets.
The main issue is structural.
Blockchain-based markets run 24 hours a day, every day. U.S. equity markets do not. Trading is split across regular hours, pre-market, post-market, and overnight sessions. Most onchain data feeds only provide one reference price during normal trading hours, usually between 9:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
This creates several problems:
<ul>
 <li>Pricing blind spots during off-hours</li>
 <li>Higher liquidation risk for leveraged products</li>
 <li>Difficulty building equity perpetuals and derivatives</li>
 <li>Inconsistent user experience across time zones</li>
</ul>
As global participation in crypto markets grows, especially in equity-linked products, these gaps become harder to ignore.
<h2 id="span-span-strong-how-does-chainlink-24-5-data-streams-solve-this-problem-strong-span-span">How Does Chainlink 24/5 Data Streams Solve This Problem?</h2>
Chainlink’s 24/5 U.S. Equities Streams convert fragmented equity market data into continuous, cryptographically signed data streams that can be consumed onchain.
Instead of pushing periodic updates like traditional price feeds, Data Streams use a pull-based model. This means pricing updates are delivered only when trades occur. The approach supports high-frequency use cases while keeping gas costs under control.
According to Chainlink, the system is designed to support decentralized equity markets that operate beyond standard U.S. trading hours without sacrificing data accuracy.
<h2 id="span-span-strong-what-data-do-the-24-5-equity-streams-provide-strong-span-span">What Data Do The 24/5 Equity Streams Provide?</h2>
Chainlink’s 24/5 streams offer more than a single price point. The expanded data schema is built specifically for financial applications. Each stream includes:
<ul>
 <li>Market status flags (regular, pre, post, overnight, weekend, closed, unknown)</li>
 <li>Bid price and ask price</li>
 <li>Bid and ask volume</li>
 <li>Mid price</li>
 <li>Last traded price</li>
 <li>Staleness indicators</li>
</ul>
This additional data allows protocols to adjust risk parameters dynamically when liquidity changes, especially during overnight sessions.
<h2 id="span-span-strong-how-is-this-different-from-chainlink-price-feeds-strong-span-span">How Is This Different From Chainlink Price Feeds?</h2>
Chainlink Price Feeds and Data Streams serve different purposes.
Price Feeds push periodic updates at fixed intervals. They work well for lending markets like Aave, where frequent updates are less critical.
Data Streams, by contrast, are event-driven. Prices are delivered when activity occurs, making them suitable for:
<ul>
 <li>Perpetual futures</li>
 <li>Derivatives</li>
 <li>Prediction markets</li>
 <li>High-frequency trading</li>
</ul>
This distinction is important for equity-linked products, where execution speed and accurate liquidation logic matter more than periodic updates.
<h2 id="span-span-strong-what-onchain-markets-can-use-24-5-equity-data-strong-span-span">What Onchain Markets Can Use 24/5 Equity Data?</h2>
The expanded coverage enables a wide range of onchain financial products tied to U.S. equities.
Key use cases include:
<ul>
 <li>Equity Perpetuals: Continuous trading with precise pricing and safer liquidations</li>
 <li>Prediction Markets: Reliable settlement using verifiable stock prices</li>
 <li>Synthetic Equities And ETFs: Tokenized representations that trade beyond market hours</li>
 <li>Lending Markets: Dynamic collateral valuation and margin controls</li>
 <li>Structured Products And Vaults: Yield strategies linked to stock performance</li>
</ul>
These markets rely on consistent data to function safely. Without it, developers are forced to limit trading hours or accept unnecessary risk.
<h2 id="span-span-strong-who-is-already-using-chainlink-s-24-5-equity-streams-strong-span-span">Who Is Already Using Chainlink’s 24/5 Equity Streams?</h2>
Several established platforms have already integrated the new data streams.
Lighter, currently the second-largest perpetual futures DEX by volume, is using the feeds to extend equity perps beyond standard trading hours. According to Lighter’s founder and CEO Vladimir Novakovski, the integration allows low-latency execution without compromising data integrity.
BitMEX has also adopted the streams for its equity derivatives infrastructure. CEO Stephan Lutz said continuous, verifiable pricing is essential for managing risk outside regular market hours.
Other platforms using the service include:
<ul>
 <li>ApeX</li>
 <li>HelloTrade</li>
 <li>Decibel</li>
 <li>Monaco</li>
 <li>Opinion Labs</li>
 <li>Orderly Network</li>
</ul>
<h2 id="span-span-strong-what-infrastructure-supports-these-data-streams-strong-span-span">What Infrastructure Supports These Data Streams?</h2>
Chainlink’s 24/5 equity data is built on the same Data Standard that already secures most of decentralized finance.
By the company’s figures, Chainlink infrastructure has:
<ul>
 <li>Enabled over $27 trillion in transaction value</li>
 <li>Delivered more than 19 billion verified onchain messages</li>
 <li>Secured roughly 70 percent of oracle-related DeFi activity</li>
</ul>
The equity streams are live across more than 40 blockchains, giving developers flexibility when building cross-chain products.
<h3 id="span-span-strong-how-does-this-fit-into-chainlink-s-broader-rwa-strategy-strong-span-span">How Does This Fit Into Chainlink’s Broader RWA Strategy?</h3>
The 24/5 equity rollout is part of a larger effort to mirror the full lifecycle of traditional financial assets onchain.
Beyond trading data, Chainlink is working with institutions such as Swift, Euroclear, and the Depository Trust &amp; Clearing Corporation (DTCC). The goal is to automate corporate actions like dividends, stock splits, and mergers.
This infrastructure ensures tokenized equities reflect changes to the underlying assets without manual updates. It reduces operational risk and keeps onchain representations aligned with real-world events.
When combined, trading data and corporate actions infrastructure bring tokenized equities closer to how traditional instruments function.
<h2 id="span-span-strong-why-does-continuous-equity-data-matter-for-rwas-strong-span-span">Why Does Continuous Equity Data Matter For RWAs?</h2>
Real-world assets are expected to grow significantly onchain, with estimates suggesting the sector could reach $30 trillion by 2030. Equities are a major part of that picture.
Without continuous and reliable pricing, equity-based RWAs cannot scale safely. Chainlink’s 24/5 streams address one of the core bottlenecks by removing off-hour pricing gaps.
The result is a market structure where equity products remain usable, accurate, and risk-aware at all times.
<h2 id="span-span-strong-what-else-is-happening-around-chainlink-adoption-strong-span-span">What Else Is Happening Around Chainlink Adoption?</h2>
The equity data rollout comes during a period of expanding institutional and regulated adoption for Chainlink.
Tron’s USDD&nbsp;<a href="https://bsc.news/post/understanding-stablecoins-how-they-work-guide" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">stablecoin</a>, with more than $1.1 billion in circulating supply, recently&nbsp;<a href="https://bsc.news/post/usdd-chainlink-data-standard" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">adopted</a> Chainlink Price Feeds as its exclusive pricing source across&nbsp;<a href="https://bsc.news/post/tron-trx" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Tron</a>,&nbsp;<a href="https://bsc.news/post/what-is-ethereum-eth-how-it-works-explained" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Ethereum</a>, and&nbsp;<a href="https://bsc.news/post/what-is-bnb-chain-layer-one-blockchain-guide" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">BNB Chain</a>.
In traditional markets, the&nbsp;<a href="https://bsc.news/post/bitwise-chainlink-etf-nyse" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Bitwise Chainlink ETF</a> received approval to list on NYSE Arca under the ticker CLNK. The fund holds LINK directly, giving investors exposure without managing wallets.
CME Group has also&nbsp;<a href="https://bsc.news/post/cme-group-link-micro-link-futures" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">announced plans</a> to launch LINK futures and Micro LINK futures, offering regulated tools to manage price risk tied to Chainlink.
<h2 id="span-span-strong-conclusion-strong-span-span">Conclusion</h2>
Chainlink’s 24/5 U.S. equities data streams close a critical gap in onchain markets by delivering continuous, context-rich pricing for stocks and ETFs. The system supports equity perps, derivatives, and other RWA products that require accurate data beyond standard trading hours. Combined with Chainlink’s broader work on corporate actions and institutional integration, the rollout brings onchain equity markets closer to the mechanics of traditional finance without compromising security or data integrity.
