The initial weeks of 2026 have been notably dynamic for the cryptocurrency markets, with XRP at the forefront of this movement. In mid-January, the formation widely recognized by investors as the “golden cross” resurfaced, prompting renewed interest in the possibility of a medium-term increase for XRP. This technical crossover, seen as significant in the realm of technical analysis, suggested that the price might ascend beyond its current levels.

Understanding the Golden Cross and Its Significance for XRP

On January 13th, XRP’s 23-day simple moving average surpassed its 50-day average, marking the first golden cross of 2026. This formation is typically interpreted as a transition from bearish to bullish sentiment. Notably, a similar pattern observed in late 2025 had led to a swift, double-digit increase in price.

In the current technical outlook, the $2.28–$2.35 range is notable. This zone coincides with the 200-day exponential moving average, presenting a solid target and resistance point. Experts suggest that as long as the price remains above the $2.02–$2.03 band, this technical scenario is likely to hold its validity.

The upward-sloping short and medium-term trend lines indicate that, should the golden cross perform as theoretically expected, the price could be gradually pushed higher.

$2.70 Scenario and Other Developments in XRP

Should XRP reach $2.32, it represents an approximate 13% increase from current levels. Historical data from similar technical formations have shown increases exceeding 20%, suggesting that this level might merely be the first milestone. A sustained breakout above $2.35 could set the stage for targeting the $2.70 mark in the near future.

In addition to these technical prospects, key fundamental news concerning XRP is closely watched. Ripple’s recent announcements of new partnerships in cross-border payment solutions and evolving expectations for more explicit crypto regulations in the U.S. contribute positively to XRP’s perception. Moreover, recurring discussions regarding a potential spot XRP ETF keep investor interest vibrant.
